Re: 2018 NHL
sorry sir what are you expecting. best team won on the day. king had a nightmare on the frees, and bergin had one of those now rare days when was outstanding. truth is laois will have a real battle to get out of the qualifiers. offaly will get beat by a minimum of 6 points in all leinster games and ...

Re: 2018 NHL
I don't know what all the OY whinging is about on the likelihood of a heavy pitch at OCP. Laois are the more skilful team and conditions on Sunday should suit this top heavy OY team. The hurlers are no longer in Offaly, and having to go back and use the likes of Mahon and Currams speaks of the pover...

Re: Leinster club championships 2017
i think kk are set fair to give cuala a right rattle, they are ideally suited to winter hurling, plus they have a great record in portlaoise, I see it as a 3 pointer either way, the wetter the day the better for kk. Kiely deserved to get sent off, never will learn. though I will add mount leinster a...

Re: Chairperson
I see 12 months on and the same executive is virtually returned en masse. Anyone care to comment on the apparent apathy in Offaly?

Re: Rhode Manager
the odds are probably on the money. the way the draw is lopsided, with this pair and then Moorefield, going to tussle for the right to play the Dublin champions in the semi final. at semi final stage, I would have no doubt whatsoever that of the trio Portlaoise would be the most dangerous opponent t...

Re: Offaly U14 Hurlers Skillful,Determined and Tough
I was down at it with the Laois team..........the omens for Offaly look bleak. Smaller counties like OY and LS are up against it with the bigger powers who have greater numbers and that must be taken into context. We were very happy with the laois team, competing in Div 1, aka, Tony Forristal we kno...

Re: Offaly vs. Waterford 2017 Hurling Qualifier
"lads the truth is that counties like ourselves in laois and yourselves in offaly are not attractive to the top coaches, we are however seen as cashcows to the transient journey men coaches. to put you in a crystal clear picture, an inter county manager/coach, was managing a team in the round r...

Re: Hurling development squads [Split from Walsh Cup]
POTH is correct in that the Laois minor team last Saturday were not particularly fancied as most are workmanlike and the squad lacks the classier type of say 3 or 4 years ago. I did expect OY to win last weekend and I have to say they were shockingly poor. I was baffled that Birr had not one starter...

Re: Offaly Club Hurling C'ship 2016
I attended the two quarter finals at tullamore, and intend to take in the two semis this weekend. as a neutral, this was my take. birr...not a patch on birr teams of old. similar to rathdowney in laois, lovely ball playing forwards, questionable if they fancy winning dirty ball in the forward line. ...

Re: Offaly Club Hurling C'ship 2016
i will track over to the 2 Saturday quarters, cannot make sunday as we have our 2 semis in laois. the draw in laois have worked out a little unevenly as the best two teams are paired in one semi, rathdowney/camross and the winner will be long odds on to defeat the winner of the second semi. a questi...

Re: Offaly Club Hurling C'ship 2016
LS & POTH, sport and often sports administration is frequently about opinions and differing opinions. I never implied that the laois model was perfect, merely pointed out reasons why a central base can be the choice of county executives/ fixtures committees. I recommend, if you have the convicti...

Re: Offaly Club Hurling C'ship 2016
every single game in the laois senior hurling and football championships for the past 3 years and for this year as well have been and will be played exclusively at o moore park. Reasons? 1- the county board own the ground and man the gate, there has been a perception that other hosting clubs may be ...

leinster hurling could do with a big shock win for OY. don't see it remotely happening. G 3.22 OY 1.16.

Re: Offaly v Laois LSHC Quarterfinal
laois have a much weaker back line than in 2016 and at least one passenger at midfield(as bad as ryan who should be no where near an offaly senior team). we have lost solid backs with experience, john a Delaney, joe fitz, butch, and tom del. on top of that keenan, tommy fitz and joe campion are also...
