Re: Offaly Minor Football and Hurling 2023

Offaly Schools will play St Peter's College Wexford in January. Kilkenny CBS play Johnstown in the other quarter-final. In the B championship, Banagher College will play Árdscoil Rís in the quarter-final, while Naas CBS play Wexford CBS. Birr and Heywood appear to have drawn 'byes' to the semi-final...

Re: JP McManus donation

Like everything, the devil is in the detail. The covering letter to boards states "to be evenly divided and distributed amongst the GAA, Camogie and Ladies Gaelic Football clubs of (county)." There are 41 GAA clubs in Offaly; Offaly Camogie has 15 clubs' locations mapped on its website; Of...

Re: Offaly Minor Football and Hurling 2023

A good week for Offaly schools. The Combined team’s win over Coláiste Eoin puts them in a quarter-final where one of Kilkenny CBS, Johnstown or St Peter’s Wexford will provide the opposition. This is decided by open draw. Earlier today, Banagher College turned 43rd minute 1-5 to 1-11 arrears into a ...

Re: Offaly Senior A Hurling Championship 2023

My understanding is the following. Technically, all those who played in the winning Senior B final are graded Senior next year. That would mean that Kilcormac-Killoughey would have around 40 players graded Senior next year. However, the regrading rules changed about five years ago. Prior to that, th...

No. Because their membership is of the Lusmagh or Drumcullen or Ballyskenagh-Killavilla clubs.
frankthetank wrote: Tue Nov 14, 2023 10:43 pm I’m curious to know should it be 2 Lusmagh/Kinnitty,1 Seir Kieran/Drumcullen and 2 Shinrone/Ballyskenagh-Killavilla because we are discussing minor players?

Re: Offaly Minor Football and Hurling 2023

I make the first knockout round of the Leinster B PPS will be Birr v Tullamore and Banagher v Mullingar. The draw seems to be 'arranged on a regional' basis, which in fairness reduces the likelihood of a lengthy trip in bad weather conditions. Though it reduces the possibility of an all Offaly final...

Re: Offaly Minor Football and Hurling 2023

As far as I can make out, there were two Lusmagh, two Ballyskenagh and one Drumcullen on the 15. The rest were native Cloghan, Banagher and points in between.

Re: Offaly Intermediate Club Hurling Championship 2023

The bigger parishes (by area) would tend to be in the eastern third of the county. Like, east of Tullamore consists almost entirely of Daingean, Killeigh, Rhode, Edenderry, Broughans and Gracefield parishes. And Gracefield would be a small enough area. Would love to know size of clubs geographical a...

Re: Offaly Intermediate Club Hurling Championship 2023

Clareen weren't defeated by Bray. In recent years Seir Kieran were the only team who I felt were equipped to do well in the Leinster Intermediate Championship. I was actually surprised they were defeated by Bray Emmets in 2019. Kinnitty may have also made decent progress in 2020 but Covid put paid t...

Types of Category V Infractions (that carry a three month suspension together with a two match suspension) include: To interfere with a Referee, Score Umpire, Line Umpire or Sideline Official – minor physical interference e.g. laying a hand on, pushing, pulling or jostling. Re: Offaly Senior A Hurling Championship 2023

Only catching up on this now. I have a few projects going on and haven’t had a chance to assess the County final. Firstly, huge credit to the Birr club. Massive voluntary effort by so many, and the wonderful community spirit around the St Brendan’s Park club is so evident. They have set the bar now ...

Will be four. St Brendan's beat them 0-13 to 0-11 in 2019's quarter-final, their last defeat at the grade.

A Senior goalkeeper worth their salt won't be allowing a ball bounce in the square, whether tarmac, astro, grass or turfmould.

Re: Offaly Senior A Hurling Championship 2023

I'd say the pitch will be alright. There's astro in the goals, so they won't be an issue.
Dodge83 wrote: Fri Oct 13, 2023 8:40 pm Because the pitch isn’t as good as it’s made out to be. Wouldn’t handle 2 games 😉
