Re: OFFALY V CAVAN.
I've seen enough of Alan McNamee over the last few years that it's hard but to try and suppress a sense of unfulfilled talent. Despite lining out at full forward in the 2001 Leinster Senior Championship 'Super' as he affectionally is known really captured the headlines when captaining Rhode to their...

Re: OFFALY V CAVAN.
Staying in Division 3 is more important than beating Kildare in the Championship.
Division 4 is a graveyard for any ambition.
Realistically as well if we are relegated, how could we even make a stab at Leinster

Re: Reeling In The Years 2 Club Football 1988-1998
The football championship alternated fron knockout to group to knockout and back to group again during that period, didn't it. Could someone be more specific in what years were which, please. Ferbane came mighty close to winning a minor double in 1991 so, losing out on the hurling leg of the double...

Re: Reeling In The Years 2 Club Football 1988-1998
Any chance of a return to the glory days in Ferbane with the maestro Kevin Gavin back in charge? A pure gentleman, but by God could he dish out a heavy training session! The committment of that Ferbane team was unreal, and they maximised their talent to the limit. Similar to the scenario for the hu...

Re: Reeling In The Years 2 Club Football 1988-1998
Great Post ST. Some good memories. Clara under the tutelage of ex Kerry player JJ Barrett It would be sinful though, to take from Ollie Daly's achievement in 1991 - it was he and not JJ that led Clara to the Dowling Cup and Leinster Club Final. Considering you were probably playing around this time...

Reeling In The Years 2 Club Football 1988-1998
Club Scene- 1988-1998 If you’re between the ages of 30 and 50, and from the major seven clubs (Clara, Edenderry, Ferbane, Tullamore, Shannonbridge, Gracefield and Rhode) of the period, this will be worthwhile. If you’re just like me (which is neither an admission of class or vintage), with an unheal...

Re: Offaly v Louth NFL
Despite testing the patience of many an observer, Offaly held on justly on a wet, wild and wintery afternoon. Having trained extensively over the last 10 days Offaly footballers belied their almost uniformly petite stature to record a much needed victory. A victory that flirted outrageously with sta...

Reeling In The Years 1
Here’s a succinct piece that our hurling brethren will surely adore. I myself took exception to the final paragraph. Either way a poet masquerading as a mere employee. Loved to read his pieces. Kilkenny have no passengers . . . and they have Charlie Carter . . . and that's why they may beat Offaly,...

Re: League Football Round Up
Reading between the lines so Clara lost to Gracefield?
Can anyone fill in the missing results
I would be very surprised at anything other than the 'Hawks' snaring their prey.
They're back training longer, missing less personel and would surely have more to prove. Time will tell.

Re: League Football Round Up
well when clonbullogue are missing 5 of there main players and edenderry have nearly a full team! Of course its gona be a walkover. Clonbullogue never took there chances in the 1st half and gave away to many frees. To say st.broughans underage isnt working is a farce. Bracknagh missing 9 starting p...

League Football Round Up
Edenderry 3-16 Clonbullogue 1-05 Killer Farrell stole the show with 1-7 from full forward. Bracknagh I hear shipped an unmerciful beating too... Out with the old and in with the who :?: Any other results across the divisions? It's harder now to find out ever since the Offaly Independant turned utter...

Re: Interim Management Team for Offaly Senior Football Panel
So the new 5 man manager selection commitee is; Pat Teehan Martin Boland Vinny Claffey Tom Coffey Phil O' Reilly Martin was very much involved in the club scene during the nineties with Killeigh/Raheen. Vinny leaving aside his dismal coaching record would have his heart in the right place. Was and r...

I've always wondered what was the real story with this club. 7 Minor A titles in the 90's, A five-in-a-row of Under 21 A titles from 94-98. What happened? Obviously there was Birr but Clareen and St. Rynaghs managed to pinch a few over the last 20 years. Can anyone shed any light? Was it Birr...

Re: offaly football draws
Couldn't disagree here - this will be very much down to what Dessie does with a seriously talented Shamrocks panel. I've great time for a lot of individuals in that club and they could thrive with the chance of dealing Rhode an early blow rather than meeting them with the spotlight glaring later in...
