Re: Kildare vs Offaly - 2009 Football Championship
The old Silken T , that game was in Newbridge in 2004 and the 3 goals were scored in Croke Park in 2006... God i'm getting senile  . I was at both of them games :!: Matt Mitchell hasn't really showed me a lot this year so i'm not sure I'd like to see him start, talent and all that he is. Hav...

Re: Kildare vs Offaly - 2009 Football Championship
Shocking quiet lead in to this... Kildare are strongly fancied and rightly so. Based on League football in 2009 you could argue they are in the top ten in Ireland. The league is still an important indicator with all the All-Ireland contenders in Division 1 and 2. Whilst the importance of staying in ...

Re: 1995 Leinster Final on TG4
Them O' Connors were legends but Jesus did they take serious punishment in that match :!: Poor Eddie :) Very small men as well, Any one see the Pat O' Neill solo :?: He did it twice. Terrible athlete though. Would have been hard to comprehend back then that Offaly wouldn't win a Leinster again for t...

Re: "Defeat" of the proposed rules change.
You really can't beat an inflated ego can you :?: . Touted as a future G.A.A. President Laois man Dick O' Neill has come out with the following about managers frostiness to the new rules. Blissfully ignoring the 80% plus vote by the GPA against the green lighting of these new sanctions. "I feel...

Re: "Defeat" of the proposed rules change.
With regards to the handpass its arguably a very new phenomenon. Gaelic Football pre 1990 and even later was very much anti possession where both sets of teams kicked possession out of defence at any costs and forwards were expected to compete for their own ball. Six to seven handpasses out of defen...

Re: offaly v limerick
My player ratings; Alan Mulhall -7-Hardly inspired confidence especially when shirking responsibility for Limerick's Garryowen goal. Solid kickouts though. Joe Quinn -8-Looked game from an early stage and carried ball through tackles, robbed prematurely by injury. Conor Evans -8-An inspired first ha...

Re: Reeling In The Years 2 Club Football 1988-1998
It's at times like this that Offaly, with it's dire support, could do with a supporter's club. I remember the supporter's club giving out the 'Man of the Match' award every year at County finals and in particular the bemused look on Pat Doyle's face as he won a weekend away in the early nineties. :D...

Re: Reeling In The Years 2 Club Football 1988-1998
Would Mark Scanlons performances in 1993 merit inclusion? Minor, U21 and Senior in the one year. If memory serves me right he was man of the match in 93 senior final. I don't think so. He had a very good debut year, but didn't do enough subsequently to merit inclusion. As for the MOTM award, I thin...

Re: Offaly SFC 2009 - Odds available from Ladbrokes
And before anyone asks, no, I don't still work there, but I did ask if it could be done and in fairness to the compiler he took it on and made a decent fist of it. In return for that (and perhaps laying a wee bet to myself! ) I agreed to pitch it on here and then if lads want to get stuck in...

Re: St Mary's Edenderry - All Ireland Final
A fantastic achievement. I was nothing short of elated when the final whistle went.
The final will bring fresh and sterner challenges but I strongly urge as many as possible to travel for the decider.
