Re: Joe McDonagh cup

Ah Jaysus lads, hurl in Birr and we'll stay up? That question is for another day lads. I hope interim management are not at that lark in the background. I'd love to go to a match in Birr to rekindle the glory days. Oh wait, I hopped into me car in North Offaly a few year ago to go see us play Kerry ...

Re: Joe McDonagh cup

Fair play Tommy...dead right. I would have been one of the few who would have said to stall the digger in relation to the long term appointment of Paul Rouse. Great lad and passionate about Offaly GAA, but would have been knee jerk reaction to defeating Antrim (we should do anyaway in Tullamore ), a...

Re: Joe McDonagh cup

"In MacNamara’s line of work, they talk about the power and value of the egoless talent coach. Someone who doesn’t necessarily want to go to the moon but just wants to prepare the rocket so that someday it will head and land there. Fitzgibbon, she found, was that rare, precious coach. “The thin...

Re: Joe McDonagh cup

Boon, I would take it that you are a disgruntled parent of a minor who didn't make the team? Apologies if I'm wrong. In fairness to the minors, they could have beaten Wexford, and by the newspaper report they were the victims of a brutal ref v Dublin, as well as not being up to scratch. And it would...

Re: Offaly V Westmeath -predict the result/score

Good luck to the lads on Sunday. Given the bounce that Laois have had with Eddie Brennan coming in and also the fact that Carlow put up such a good show against Galway in Pearse Stadium, surely there should not be such a downbeat mood going into the Westmeath game. We should have put Carlow down and...

Re: Meath v Offaly 12th May 2019 @3pm Navan

Tull Man, bit harsh on County Board calling them dinosaurs? As far as I know clubs voted in ruling on U20 players. My opinion is the opposite to you. I think U20's should prioritise U20, why? 1) You get the best 35 players from U20 together, with all the best available players in this group working ...

Re: Offaly Minor Football Team Named

Another game that could have been won tonight. Too many missed chances, especially goal chances and some frees from the right. But a poor start where there was a lot of admiration of the Dubs left Offaly 2-05 to 2 pts behind. They recovered well to bring it back to 2-05 to 6pts. Positives, Lee Pears...

Re: Meath v Offaly 12th May 2019 @3pm Navan

Great performance and gutted with the result. But this was a great effort against a team that people are looking to for opposition for Dublin. All credit to John Maughan and his staff and the players for the work that they have put in. With some u20s to come into the panel and Maughan getting a chan...

Re: Offaly Minor Football Team Named

Lone Shark makes a valid point about the level of work being done by the clubs in preparing the players with the skills of the game. I think that this is a major issue and that more emphasis at u13 should be on game time for players and skills, and conditioning basics. I know guys out there "co...

Re: Offaly Minor Football Team Named

I have to agree with Lone Shark, Geansai Gorm probably hasn't attended one of the 20 plus games that this management have organized in preparation. The gym prep has been first class and the management have done their very best to look after the players in preparing them as best they can. Some of the...

Re: Eugene McGee RIP

Very sad news and especially so for his family given the circumstances. Thoughts and prayers with them at this time and there will be time for wider tributes to the man over the coming days and weeks.

Re: Offaly Minor Football Team Named

Decent win and very important one for the group down in Wexford. This management and group have worked hard over the last 6 mths. Thoroughly deserved one although they made hard work of it. Full back line bar one mistake which led to the goal were very good as was Lee Pearson at wing back. Luke Egan...

Re: Minors 2019

I used to log on here when a topic on the minor hurlers might consist of someone talking about the match that they attended. But instead I see the thing descends into Crinkle v Birr, why are adult clubs named? and why isn't there a South Offaly football team. IlKJ, I wasn't at the match but thought ...

And not one report on the match, the team or how they played?
