Re: All Ireland final - Where does it leave us?
I watched them in the flesh on Sunday and it was truly a case of men against boys. True The Deise are not THAT bad but Kilkenny are truly that good. I definitely think they are well on for 5 ina row. They Championship structure that allows them one bad day out at provincial level and a re run if nee...

Re: Next Manager
Back in the day a manager was somebody who could run a good training session, have a handle on his selectors to pick his favored team, motivate and make the correct changes in the course of any game to try and alter its outcome. In the modern area a senior intercounty manager at the top tier is more...

Re: Hurling Rules being ignored
It will be interesting to see if TV3 in their analysis will focus in on this aspect of the game. You can take it as read that RTE will not. In slow motion analysis this type of stuff is much more obvious (much like players diving in soccer versus watching it at full speed). Any criticism of players ...

Re: Hurling Rules being ignored
Agree 100% with all your observations LS. Quiet a few of them (espeically barging your opponent) are old chestnuts of mine. One other I would add to this is playing the players arms when he is posession of the ball. I saw it several times last Sunday and it is something that is becoming part and par...

Re: What about the hurling?
I was one of the 9,500 that was in Croke Park in 1980 when the hurlers made the break through. I dont think I'll chance the old man carrying me over the turn styles in O'Moore Park on Sunday fit and all as he is, I dont think his back is up to it. While Kilkenny are obvious favorites for all the rea...

Jaysus lads ... calm it down .... He is employed as a pundit and he is doing exactly what he is paid to do as one of Newstalks main hurling annalists. Off the Ball is an excellent sports show and they give a level of GAA coverage well beyond anything being offered on RTE or Today FM. In general I fi...

Re: Expectation from the NHL this year?
At this stage I would grab one win and one draw with both hands. I think we all (mistakenly) had assumed Leix would be a win nad that the hard work had been done in the 2nd half against Galway. I cant see us beating Limerick so Clare is our must win game.

Offaly v Galway
Given both our own and The Tribesmen’s performance last weekend wha’s a fair expectation for the game at the weekend? I think we need a good start to get into the game as we did last Sunday. When we got the intensity up to any level at all we were able to give as good as we were getting. It’s hard t...

Re: Offaly vs Tipperary
Went to Thurles. My thoughts: We started well and were competitive through most of the first 2/3’s of the game. 20 min into the second half we were 3 points behind, Tipp scored a point and a goal then it was floodgates time. We were outscored 2-9 to 0-0 in the last ¼ of the game. Thought our full ba...

Expectation from the NHL this year?
Given:
a) How we did in the league last year,
b) The fact that we beat Wexford but lost to Antrim in the Walsh Cup,
3) JD will not have the Birr players at his disposal
What is a legitimate expectation from the league campaign ahead?
Personally I think two wins would be a decent campaign.
