Re: Championship countdown clocks

I discovered (by accident) at the football yesterday that the Leinster Council had moved the Antrim/Offaly v Wexford/Galway hurling games from Saturday evening the 19th June to the following day. It will now be a double header with Kilkenny v Dublin/Laois. I realise that the changes were made to fac...

Re: Offaly vs. Limerick NHL 28/03/2010

Just wondering what option do you favour? Do you favour a 2 up 2 down scenario? I would prefer two up two down. For the teams like ourselves that are top third of division 2 bottom third of division 1 they system of only one team getting promotion to division 2 is not adding development in the less ...

Re: Offaly vs. Limerick NHL 28/03/2010

Firstly well done to all, a second season of Division hurling can only do us good. When you look at Wexford, Leix, Carlow and Antrim battling it out to in all likelihood play Clare in a league final I am delighted that we will not be part of that scrap next season (mind you 1 up 1 down remains a dis...

Re: SHEFFLIN'S ALL STAR AWARD.

Personally I feel that the All Star awards get WAY too much publicity. One of the main reason that the All Stars do is that is a media event driven by the media with awards allocated by the media. I have spoken to somebody who has been on the “inside” when the awards winners are chosen they observed...

Re: Changes to playing rules

1. Steps/Over carrying … Consistency is a killer here , I agree 100%. I think it’s a valid suggested solution and anything is better than the inconsistent interpretation we have at present. If a player is bearing in on goal he can take up to 8 and get away with it if he is in the act of scoring (whe...

Re: Hurling Relegation play off

€20 in to Parnell Park on Saturday for a play off game that could turn out to be meaningless. The only people there on Saturday are die hards and a charge of this manner was simply a tax on fans loyalty. There must be someone at a decision making level within the GAA that would have had the sense to...

Maybe you could stick some of it on the pitch in Birr to sort out the current problems.

Re: Offaly .v. Cork - SHC Round 1 Qualifier - 4th/July/2009

As frustrating as ever in Tullamore on Saturday night. They way our heads dropped when the second goal went in was the most disappointing thing of all. When we maintained the intensity of the game we were able to more than hold our own. Backofthenet mentioned Dublin KK as an example of the complete ...

Re: Offaly .v. Cork - SHC Round 1 Qualifier - 4th/July/2009

I think Dylan will be ok at wing back. He’s good to contest a dropping ball, strong in the air. With Regard to the “Rory at 6 or 8” chestnut, I’m a 6 man on that call all the way (Sorry Shark!!). I think Cork not playing Niall McCarthy will suit Rory as he prefers hurling a more orthodox/open hurler...

Re: JULY 4th 2009

If you park the open stand side of Wexford Park there is a rat run that will get you out onto the bay pass in a matter on mins. I think the street is called the Clonard Road. Its the one that runs parallel to the open stand on that side of the field. Have a look at it on Google Maps but it will save...

Re: Offaly vs. Wexford match reaction

I was wondering as I headed back from Wexford Park last Saturday would we have been better served by the application of the rules used during the NHL as opposed to the “traditional” rules used last Saturday. Wexford set out to knock us out of our hurling stride and press home their physical advantag...

1995 Leinster Final on TG4

I was looking at the All Ireland Gold listing for the weekend and according to the schedule they are showing the 95 Leinster final at 7.30 on Saturday next 9th. The tracking on the video for the youtube version was a small bit out!

Anyway enjoy ......

Re: "Defeat" of the proposed rules change.

What about the prospect of limiting the hand pass to 3-5 times per possession where on the ball must be kicked with the foot.
