Not sure about that.
Granted we mightn't get many championship games in 2005, but I wouldn't see that as a reason to scale it down too much. I'm not sure if there's too much of a need for O'Connor and O'Moore Park so close, but given that it was worth going ahead with in the first place, I'd say go on ahead and do it ri...

Paddy Molloy
I've heard a bit about him actually. Before my time, but I believe in the NY scene he was considered up there with the best of them, and that was a pretty high standard at the time.
Since he kept it going when we were going nowhere, I think we'll nominate Paddy alright ....

Offaly Championship
Each way would be okay in either of them. Like you say, the draws not made, so it could go against as well as with you. I do think that's lunacy having quarter finals as well. That leaves very little reward for winning your group as opposed to finishing third of five. If they just changed to the foo...

Offaly Championships 2005
(For those of you who didn't know my altar ego on GAAboard is Ig, this should make it pretty obvious!!) I was thinking about the Offaly Championships in 2005, for betting purposes. Granted we have no draw yet, and no real clues on what sides will winter well, but I said I'd have a crack at doing up ...

Hall of fame
Hard to disagree with most of what's said there. Interesting choice with Brendan Kelly all right. Might struggle to hold down a spot with the same gusto he might hold down, say, a burger, but worthy of debate. Lowry and Claffey I'd go with. Troy, Hanamy and Flaherty will certainly be there or therea...

Obviously this guy is a troublemaker of sorts. Clearly has to be watched.

Other venues.
Of the four home games, I'd say if they're going to be anywhere else, it can really only be Gracefield.
It has the train station for the visit of the Jacks and Mayo, Cork won't bring anyone anyway, and it's the farthest distance we can make Westmeath travel. All good really.

Rule 42
"Allowing other codes in, under any circumstances, means we are changing our rules to suit them, not to suit ourselves, and we will have set a precedence that it will be very hard to go back on. " If we get a decent economic rent in, then I would contend that it does suit ourselves. I'd be...

Haven't got the video I'm afraid. At least the cameramen knew where the action was at though - both in the terraces and on the pitch.

The sheer wildness of Pat Delaney's afro couldn't go unmentioned.
Diggy Cordial's peroxide blonde thing could have been legendary, but he chickened out too soon.

Coolderry vs UCD report
2004 is over. Curtain drawn, audience filing out politely. No encores requested. What can safely be said to be one of the worst years for Offaly GAA both on and off the pitch in at least my living memory has drawn to an appropriate conclusion, and I’d say if even Methuselah was inclined to stand on ...

League 2005
I'd be chomping at the bit to re-assert the natural order of things over the SouthLongford boys as much as the next man, but from a realistic point of view, we'd have to be targeting it as a match we'd need to win to stay up, just like a few of the others. With all due respect to the lads who'll be ...

The GAA’s Croke of Gold
(As posted on the site under my columns - any thoughts?) The recent US election, as well as showing us that the electorate of the US views GW Bush somewhat differently to the rest of us, has been widely recognised as an illustration of the deep divisions that run down the core of the American nation...
