Re: offaly minor hurlers 2015

based on the games the teams have played against each other up along the grades, I think there will be a serious gulf in class between OY and LS. If LS fail to win by less than double digits it will register as a poor return.

Re: Un Cambio Es Bueno

message to offalys future the gaa is a democracy. put yourself forward for an executive position at the next agm. a year on a county executive might be an eye opening experience. this idea of offering yourself for free for a position is a joke............you may consider yourself an ideal candidate,...

Re: OFFALY Hurling 2014

the problem in offaly is evident to most outsiders.............the current crop are below high class intercounty standard and the bigger problem is that nothing is coming through underage. all the ballooney I am reading about coolderry and kk doing well at club level at national standard is the inco...

Re: Round 1 Qualifiers: Offaly v Wicklow

to plainoftheherbs...as a leixman who was at aughrim in 1986, I saw what happened with my own eyes, and the truth was YOUR ref lost it bigtime on the day and the multiple off the ball hits had to be seen to be believed.....of course, those that were not present now seem to be experts!. back to 2014....

Re: Offaly Minor hurling 2014

I totally disagree with your assessment of these laois team as compared to last year. I rate them very good, we have just about the best under 16 team in the country and these young lads are swelling the talent pool.. the last 4 challenge games include a draw with Waterford, and wins against clare, ...

Re: Offaly Minor hurling 2014

don't tell them we had a handy win over galway during the week in the last prep game, I expect laois to win by at least 4 points next weekend.

Re: Accountability

I will nail a few subjects all on this one thread, ambling in from laois for the annual chinwig. I was a member of the leinster council development committee over a dozen years ago and we spent 6 months analysing all the grounds in leinster, surveying all angles. when it came to the subject of backi...

query to lone shark

as the pricing expert, you may shed some light. I see that birr are as low as 1/3 in places and at a high of 1/2 with paddypower for the tie with clareen tonight. what would you call as the correct price?. I noticed you article on betswot for Kilkenny and Waterford on goals. I am taking the complete...

Re: Offaly v Waterford, SH qualifier, 22nd June 2013

an independent leix view on the game. travelled over not knowing what to expect, as could not figure out where either county stood in the pecking order. last sunday, laois/galway was a fascinating game on many fronts, none more so the tactical battle. truthfully the first time I saw a laois team pre...

Re: U21 hurling v Laois, Wednesday 5th June, Portlaoise

6 or 7 weeks ago, a poor laois under 21 team defeated offaly in football, and it was a case of the weaker side prevailing due to the oppositions making more individual errors, in the long run, laois got a dose of reality when they met Kildare in the semi final. this game to my eyes was a carbon copy...

Re: U21 hurling v Laois, Wednesday 5th June, Portlaoise

my view is that in teams of under 20 to under 15, if I can describe the ages groups as such, laois are well ahead of offaly. I think ye are not in a good place. this laois team has some good players, a few surefire starters, are carrying niggles and left on the bench. if you asked me a month ago, I ...

Re: Offaly minor Hurlers 2013

looking at your thread on the offaly minor football team, some questioning the preparation, gymwork etc. when you beat meath in the previous round, not many questioned then. that's by the by, saw meath beat a poor laois minor team, on that form meath will be lucky to come out of Mullingar the next d...

Re: Offaly minor Hurlers 2013

the minor gaem will be close, though truth be told, whichever wins, the victory will be shortlived as a heavy semi final defeat awaits the winners. on the senior, knowing quite a few of the glensmen, i think their weakness is a fondness for fouling and dodgy flanks at the rearguard. the outcome depe...

Re: Offaly minor Hurlers 2013

i reckon you will not have to worry about any future opponents after saturday week. though reading lonesharks report on the westmeath antrim senior game, he will no doubt be tipping a double defeat for laois on the night. and he will be proven wrong.

Re: under 21

the ref did not beat ye, ye lost because of stupid 1st half tactics, and the fact that you had a dreadful goalie and full back line who simply were brutal under the high ball. laois perspective. little expected, the sole laois senior player on the team was out injured. conditions were perfect, dry w...
