Re: Offaly Schools Hurling
I would imagine it is all the schools combined bar Birr who always play in the A competition on their own. Not sure about players but would assume theyd have bulk of county minor team outside of Birr lads.

Re: Brian Carroll retires
Hard to fathom Conor Mahon not making an Offaly panel? or was it Con Mahon that played at corner back for KK last year that didn't make it?

Re: K/K appointment
Have been thinking about this lately. Offaly people seem to be now in a state of mind where they no longer feel they are as knowledgeable about hurling as Kilkenny folk. It isnt that long ago to a time where Kilkenny feared drawing Offaly in Leinster as Offaly regularly had the upper hand during the...

Re: K/K appointment
Will be interesting to see how Danny Owens gets on with Westmeath minors - has developed a big rep with KK so will be interesting to see how he gets on at inter-county. Could be the next Offaly manager. Kevin Martin has enhanced his reputation winning this year with Clogh Ballycolla in Laois and the...

Re: Leinster Club Championship
just as well it was called off. the game would have been destroyed by the wind yesterday. It may not have been solely a co board decision. As said already, leinster GAA run both of these competitions.

Re: Club Championships 2016
I think this year proved to a degree that 1 group of 8 doesn't work! 2 x 4 will be run over shorter period with more meaning to each game! To me it is better that teams enter a competition with a genuine chance of winning it! That wasnt happening for many teams in last 10 years. St Brigids and Walsh...

Re: 2016 Offaly Players of the Year
Absolutely, Sean Doyle deserves the accolade. While it is unusual to have a non county senior win the senior award, Edenderry would have won nothing this year without Doyle. He was the key forward in the county final and in the Leinster game v Rathnew he was on fire kicking 7 or 8 points from play. ...

U21 football management 2016
Has this turned into a bit of a farce. Heard it was on Newstalk this morning that Declan Kelly was appointed without consent and that he had withdrawn from position already. Can anyone confirm or what has gone on here at all? If it is true, it again portrays Offaly GAA in bad light across the media.

Re: 2016 Championship
I don't buy into this idea that games in Birr would be better attended................... The evidence shows a big increase in Gate Receipts after move to Tullamore,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Now is that down to more people or less scamming I have no idea but those true South Offaly Hurling Folk might enl...

Re: Offaly GAA Centre of Excellence
Credit where it is due. This has been needed for a long time and well done to those involved. It is hugely important that at least 3 of the pitches have lights on them, otherwise it is a waste of time. There were always plenty of places for teams to train in the good weather and long evenings. The p...

Re: Offaly Hurling Championships 2015
They age profile of most of the kk lads and coolderry lads mean neither clubs are going to contribute a lot of player to offaly in 2016 , its not that either teams lack comittement to offaly rather most of those lads were messed around or their potental was missed by county managment 7 or 8 years a...

Re: Offaly Hurling Championships 2015
Kilcormac/Killoughey gave a minimal contribution to Offaly in 2015. Don't think that Coolderry will offer much more to Offaly in 2016. St Rynaghs & Birr have the more promising younger hurlers. Can't Agree with this. Kilcormac Killoughey lads were willing to commit. Some weren't ask. Kevin Gorg...

Re: Offaly Hurling Championships 2015
Hard luck to rynaghs hard to take after been two points up with a minute to go , but for Coolderry were the better team . They hurled Rynaghs off the pitch in the first half and Rynaghs held on in the game thanks to frees . Joe Brady held centre back with ease as no one stood near him all day and t...

Re: 2015 SFC Final - Edenderry vs. Rhode 11/10/15
Thought Edenderry were much the better team and nearly threw it away. Rhode were a lot more efficient up front as Edenderry dominated around the middle. Dalton and Guing edged midfield while Derek Kelly was excellent and bossed Brian Darby. Edenderry seemed to be getting a lot of ball through half f...
