Re: Offaly Senior Hurlers Championship Thread

Offaly hurlers deserve to be relegated. two atrocious displays against Wexford and in particular Dublin. I know 4 weeks in a row is very tough but there should not be that big a gap between the teams. Offaly hurling needs to harden up for one thing. Both physically and mentally. Club games are too s...

Re: Offaly Senior Footballers Championship Thread

Yes a game definitely capable of winning. Certainly should be at home.

Time for the players to get the finger out and perform. No more excuses. Just go out and give it bloody everything.

Re: Leinster club championships 2017

Lads look a few bad referring calls were not the difference. KK well and truly beaten by a far superior conditioned team, tactically far superior, and far superior speed on the ball. Lets be realistic ands identify that the problem lies in a poor Offaly championship, a lot of mickey mouse games for ...

Re: Leinster club championships 2017

Hard luck to KK. They had the nightmare start and that gave Cuala huge momentum and confidence. Fair play to KK for not lying down and keeping going especially with a man down and a vitally important player at that. Now unfortunately I have to say also that a comfortable win for the Dublin side was ...

Re: Ballinamere/ Durrow

yes I agree it's probably a sign that offaly club hurling is more on same level as westmeath now or weaker. in recent enough years the offaly intermediate champions were well ahead of the likes of westmeath representatives and others bar Kilkenny who won it most years. was offaly intermediate hurlin...

Daithi and the heartland

I see Daithi Regan giving another outburst on Birr being where hurling should be played in the county. It's not the reason Offaly teams have been whipping boys for the last decade. He claims some children will not see Offaly hurl because parents in south Offaly have their principles and refuse to go...

Re: Offaly hurling manager??

Best of luck to Kevin and his backroom team. They have a very big challenge ahead of them to get the squad up to speed and improving. We have to be realistic about what Kevin has at his disposal and the fixtures that we should be winning. Closing the gap and becoming competitive again is the big cha...

Re: Football Draw

GAA really need to start looking at having maybe a junior, intermediate and senior championship. Or simply Junior and Senior at a minimum. Yes I know the roars are coming in anger to this as we all should have a right to battle for Sam. True enough, but bottom line is most counties at present offer ...

Re: Rhode Manager

I know a lot of people are highlighting that Rhode are not the team they were and as the tribune sports journalist has pointed out that they are in decline. I agree they are in decline and wont replace a lot of their older players with the same quality. They are not likely to be serious challengers ...

Re: New Managers for 2018

What is happening with the hurling? this should be all sorted.

Is it true K Martin was/is the preferred candidate but talks may have broken down and its between D Owens and P Kirwan? I am hoping this holds no substance.

Re: Offaly SHC

I wasn't a fan of the revamp of the Offaly SHC for 2018 onwards when in it was first mooted but analysing this weekend's results it seems clear that change is in fact needed. Over the course of the six games there were two competitive games. The first between Belmont and Shinrone, saw Belmont being...

Re: Offaly GAA - in Crisis?

Offaly county board received €220k in games development funding in 2016 it was reported. The third largest payout of all counties. Obviously we all know Dublin topped the table getting a massive €1.5m. However, would be interested if anybody has a breakdown of how the county board used this money. W...

Re: County Management Stability

On the other hand Offaly's tactics this year left a bad taste in many people's mouths regardless of whether they were justified or not. Just curious, would people feel a lot better if Galway had scored 3.24 rather than 33 points against Offaly. Look at their scorelines so far and they are hitting b...
