Re: A hundred years ago . . .

Cheers POTH, Christy Todd listed as a sub for the footballers, wow it goes to show ya learn something new everyday :o There were still a lot of good players on that team, though I think from memory the Meath team of that time was pretty good and unlucky to have come up against Heffo's Army. Interes...

Re: Delegate slams 'sub-standard' Offaly football team

Jasus Oceans15 i think the fact they scored 2 - 9 in the second half shows that they care. Thin ur readin too much into it myself. As I said its not the majority its only 2 or 3. I suppose what made my blood boil was that the one i seen laughing & skiting the night of the Meath match were the s...

Re: A hundred years ago . . .

What is the 'famous reds?'. Did Offaly wear Red back then? And if so, was that in honour of Edenderry or somewhere? I dont go back quite a hundred years, though its getting to feel like it, but I do remember going to Croke Park some time in the mid seventies, after the demise of the early 70's team...

Yea it was a classic third man tackle. Thought at the time it should have been a free out.

Re: Offaly vs. Clare Football Qualifier Round 1 26/06/2010

speaking of support - Saturday was a lovely day - it was a tenner onto the terrace and there was eff all there - a feckin disgrace Sort it out people. In fairness, the crowd in Portlaoise indicates that if people believe there is something worth seeing, then they will turn out. It's been a while si...

Re: Meath v Laois in Tullamore

Bollox, excuse the french, Offaly did not lie down against Meath. And ultimately Laois lost by the same margin. On what has been seen so far, Meath are a far stronger outfit than Dublin and must be favourites for Leinster. Maybe some supposed Offaly supporters will take some perspective from that.[...

Re: Offaly vs. Clare Football Qualifier Round 1 26/06/2010

Well done to the players today. At the end of the first half I was sick to the stomach, but to turn a seven point defic into a six point advantage against any team takes some guts. I just hope the draw is favourable for the next round because there are going to be some weak losing provincial finalis...

Re: Offaly .v. Galway - LSHC Semi Final Replay - 26/06/2010

Terrific second half after I had thought all the predictions of being found out were going to come through. I thougt Canning and Tannion would wreak havoc in the second half under the dropping ball but there was some heroic defending done. If Brian Carroll in particular had stedied a little more bef...

Re: RTE & Ger Farragher's "wide" from last Sunday

I think this a bit of an overreaction. Unlike live commentary, the highlights are just reporting what actually happened and what actually happened is that a point was awarded to Galway. No issues with the broadcaster here.

Re: Dermot Early r.i.p.

A winner and leader on and off the field. Of all the players I've seen that havent won an all ireland senior medal, Earley is the one I'd most liked to have won one. Fantastically stylish and effective midfielder who's skills would transfer to any era.

Condolences to his family.

Re: Leinster Senior Hurling Offaly V Galway

Just logged in from Umbria where we are on holiday. Couldnt believe the result, and with Currams sent off as well. Fair play to them. Hope they can finish the job next week and face Kilkenny with a bit of confidence.

Well done.

Re: Delegate slams 'sub-standard' Offaly football team

He said it was 'disgraceful what went on in Portlaoise' and he said there was 'no more effort put in that day than there would be at a Junior C Championship match'. I object to this statement. From last year I've seem more effort and determination in the Junior 'C' Championship!! I think ...

I wouldnt be bothered with asking questions of McEnaney, actions speak louder than words.

Juvenile Membership Fees

Can anyone tell me what the juvenile membership fee is in their club at the moment.

I was shocked to discover a particular Dublin club has a juvenile membership fee of €100

Is this the norm these days ?
