Re: Offaly Hurlers 2022

Johnny Kelly has a solid resume. If he’s willing to step forward into this Offaly ‘situation’, which can’t be overly appealing to many, what’s the issue?

Re: 16 August 1997 - Offaly vs. Meath

Was at Furlong’s Riverside Inn in East Durham NY for the match. The roof nearly blew off when Roy went on his run and hit the back of the net. Great memory.

Gut wrenching result, but congrats to the Minors on an outstanding season.

Lots to be proud of.

Re: Offaly Senior Football Team - Championship 2022

New York will have to deal with the travel and time difference. Also, is there any sense that some of their team may not be willing to leave the USA because of visa issues? When New York beat Derry in the 2006 Ulster championship there were several of their team that didn't want to travel and so th...

Re: Offaly Senior Football Team - Championship 2022

should be good buzz around the town saturday night anyway. imagine it will be a saturday to give new york sunday to travel home. must make sure we are not the team who new york finally win a game against! Of course we had to get New York! After roaring for them each time Sligo and Leitrim have come...

Re: Offaly Hurlers 2022

Let's deal with the elephant in the room here.. We beat Laois (who knocked out Kilkenny something we haven't done in a long time correct me if I'm wrong).. and Dublin.. yes it does appear to be a good team but as we know one minor final win on its own won't be sufficient.. as we know generally if l...

Re: Offaly Hurlers 2022

Too bad about the result.

Thanks to the team and all for their efforts.

It will be a grind working our way out of this level. Nothing is a given here. Just have to keep at it.

Re: Minors hurlers 2022

It’s mad to think there was only one starter between Birr, Rynaghs, Coolderry, Shinrone, Clareen, Drumcullen - traditional hurling clubs. Great to see management are searching throughout the county to get the best squad. Well done to all involved. Interesting point. Thanks for flagging. As long as ...

Dublin next Wednesday evening in Parnell park.
Big score put up!

Congrats to all involved!!

Re: Quick Hurling/Rules ?

I see. At first I thought the Galway player misplayed it just before getting hit.Now I see it.

No doubt there appears to be a ‘soccer style’ reaction to being hit. Tiresome.

Re: Quick Hurling/Rules ?

Thanks for the background/perspective. That explains a lot. Agree he should go for the ball, just appears that he runs through your man in an established position to do so. I see it as a foul (open to discussion). As pointed out, if no foul is called either because it is not deemed a foul (fair enou...

Quick Hurling/Rules ?

Watched the Kilkenny/Galway highlights. There seems to be a considerable bit of squabbling over the free given at the end of the game.

Not sure I understand all the excitement. Looked like a reasonable free to me.

Anyone have an opinion on the incident in question either way?

Thanks.
