Re: Offaly v Carlow, Leinster round robin Saturday 7th May

I think the task at hand is easily explained. Kerry will beat Westmeath, the home advantage the decider. so, by my estimation, to stand any chance of taking a top two spot, offaly must win by a minimum of 12 points, the bigger the size of victory, the less the demand against Kerry in the final round...

Re: Offaly v Carlow, Leinster round robin Saturday 7th May

I expect Kerry to defeat Westmeath, so in the event of Kerry/Offaly/Westmeath all finishing on 4 points (if offaly beat Carlow and Kerry), are we to assume that the first two places will be decided upon by scoring difference?....if so, by my calculations, unless offaly beat Carlow by ten points or m...

Re: Allianz Hurling League Roinn 1B 2016

from a leix perspective I fear our rising from the depths may have plateaued with the win over ye last year in the championship. as of now, there is precious little between OY and LS on a given day, our better underage teams for the last 3 or 4 years may give us a small edge for a few years to come....

Re: Club Championships 2016

I was involved in different committees in laois when it came to prosposing plans for championship structures. the start and end problem was that all the clubs had different agendas and there was never universal approval. if the committee/task force is to recommend a championship structure is must cl...

Re: Offaly Hurling Championships 2015

am I missing something?

2 attractive looking semi finals on sunday and not a dicky bird from anyone on the likely outcomes? I plan on heading over rather than watching a couple of football borefests in portlaoise.

new offaly constituency?

there is a general election coming soon, with LS/OY now split into two 3 seaters, with a little external added to each county. I am struggling to work out the new Offaly constituency. Until a few years ago 2 for FF would have been a safe bet.......would I be right in guessing that Barry Cowen is a c...

Re: Offaly Hurling Championships 2015

lads if you want a senior championship with every game counting, cut out the bullshite games and bite the bullet and go down the laois route. since we did that we have had some excellent championships with many hum-dingers, because every single game has a significance. the standard of hurling in off...

Re: Offaly v Waterford Football Qualifier

assuming the OY support are coming via Clonmel(25 minutes from Dungarvan)....when you enter the town, turn left at the first roundabout, then about 500 metres to the next roundabout, the park hotel is stationed beside this roundabout, and the pitch is just behind the hotel, very easy to find.

Re: Laois v Offaly – Leinster Hurling Quarter Final 7th Ju

in about 3 weeks time the likelihood is that offaly and laois will be in the pots for the qualifier games and if drawn against munster teams we may be out of the championship at the same time, that could be cold comfort. laois had shown nothing all year to recommend a performance like today hence my...

Re: Laois v Offaly – Leinster Hurling Quarter Final 7th Ju

i will fill in a few blanks for you all star...and as always I will call it as it is. on the leinster quarter final on sunday week, if offaly apply themselves, you will win comfortably by maybe 5 points or more. my read for what it is worth, is that laois played ok for one half of the entire league ...

Re: Liam Dunne vs. Michael Duignan

the timing of dunnes angry comments is surprising, perhaps he thinks viewers have forgotten that shameful display by wexford at parnell park, unbecoming of the county. unlike offaly and laois players of his era, who may have been hard but fair, dunne was recognised as a very sneaky defender(ask gary...

Re: offaly minor hurlers 2015

plain, my quip was not an insult, merely a play on the old stat from a few years ago that the 3L's and O, Leitrim, Longford, Laois and Offaly had the lowest 3rd level participation and were deemed in certain Dublin 4 quarters as the illiterates. one must feel sympathy for dearest townman, last I hea...

Re: offaly minor hurlers 2015

you are the one with the attitude problem allstar, I call it as I see it, I never said laois would win leinster or god save an all Ireland with this team. perhaps you are one of those harping on the past and reading the parts of threads that suit your eyes. part of the overall malaise I fear. and fo...

Re: offaly minor hurlers 2015

i was disappointed with the laois performance. having beaten most of the munster mob in practice matches, I found the effort lethargic at times. laois had beaten offaly by 20 points earlier in the year and as an offaly all star said to me at the game yesterday, that result caused two effects, laois ...
