Re: UíbhFháilí.com's 10th anniversary

Well done to Uibhfhaili.com on the 10 year anniversary.

Always enjoy reading especially some of the extreme views that we have.

Unfortunately the 10 years in existence has coincided with the worst 10 years of the modern era of Offaly GAA. Hopefully the next 10 may bring something to shout about

Re: Un Cambio Es Bueno

there's five times as many junior slogging matches in the muck of the Spring, where they're far more likely to get hurt by a thirty-something has been who knows that he doesn't have the legs to chase after young lads any more and so is tempted to throw in a hard tackle to "slow them up". ...

Re: Offaly vs Tipperary - 2014 All-Ireland SHC qualifier Rou

I have to agree with Fifi on this one - Duignan's praise of Gavin's refeering is reaching vomit enducing levels. Every time Gavin makes a decision it is commented on as 'good refeering' or 'letting the game flow'. Yesterday was a case in point when Duignan completely contradicted himself on Gavin's ...

I once picked up a hurl to bate a herd of cattle out of me back garden - would that qualify me as a dual player?

Re: Round 1 Qualifiers: Offaly v Wicklow

By the way, thanks to the driver of the silver Passat (I think) who kindly 'bipped' his car horn at me when he spotted I had strayed off course in either Hacketstown or Tinahely on my way down Saturday evening. He'd been behind md since about Carlow and must have guessed where I was headed. Probabl...

Re: All-Ireland Hurling Qualifiers Round 1 Antrim v Offaly

Quick question - who decides who enters the Leinster round robin competition which decides who eventually faces relagation to Chrsity Ring? This year Westmeath beat Kildare to avoid the drop but how come Offaly are not facing this round robin series. Surely with the performance levels of this year w...

Come on Mountain Man tell us what you really think!! Great post Mountain man and I would agree with alot of your insight. Not sure about the Gracefield duo at midfield - Smith is a great ball winner for sure - however any inter county midfileder will know to break off him - depends then on Smith's a...

Re: football championship 2014

Any reports on the Rhode - Clara game. I would have presumed these 2 would be strong favourites with Edenderry and Tullamore. Suprised to see the result.

Any reports on Ferbane - KK game - did they show up or were Ferbane just too good on the day?

Re: U21 FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

Out of interest is it not hard to get behind a team that has a temporal identity? There is no relation to any of the adult teams and it seems to be a nice thing to win but then they migrate back to their respective clubs and the championship begins the achievement is presumably long forgotten. What...

Re: U21 FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

Can someone tell me when did the U21 Daingean parish team become St Vincents? It used to be called St Colemans or something like that? They were hugely successful in the 80s winning 3 championships. I remember it as a seperate club to the adult and Vincents clubs. Also use they not wear blue or some...

Re: Leinster Under 21 Football

The ref decided fairly early on that Offaly were the side with lesser ability and generally punished them for fouls and pick ups. He gave Meath the benefit of the doubt on a couple of marginal ones. Thats an interesting persepctive on how referees officiate matches. Is this a general statement or s...

Re: SFC Qualifier Draw - Offaly vs Tyrone

I would be in favour of moving matches away from Tullamore. We need to think outside of the box on this one. I often thought that playing the county matches on the steepest slopes of Croghan hill might be the best alternative. At least we would have one good half on the down slope. It could also pro...

Re: LSFC v Kildare

Worrying beatings handed out to Limerick and Tipperary. The difference in quality in the leagues starting to show in the championship. Although Wicklow, London and Dongeal showed that their league form was only temporary. Not sure can Offaly improve substantially on their league form and play. Offal...
