Failure to beat Westmeath at home was the catalyst in Pat Flanagan's departure from the Offaly job. Westmeath got it together in Cusack Park the following Saturday.

Next year's league campaign will be a challenge.

If Offaly start a bit quicker this year, the Longford game should be winnable. POTH and other posters. For information, there is a townland of Derryadd, in Killeigh parish. Tinny cross is a few miles from Tullamore, and is in Tullamore parish. Clodiagh Gaels cover Raheen and Ballinagar for hurling only. Raheen, Ballinagar and Clodiagh Gaels have separate football teams.

His mother was from Kilkenny. I never heard he was born in Tullamore. He had a thing about Offaly,despite his father's origins.

Kind of a confessional! The late Kevin Heffernan, Dublin manager in the 1970's, had a father from Offaly. He was a Garda in Dublin, from Bracknagh I believe.
