Re: Offaly Minor Football 2024
I'd suggest that if Birr was a school of its size with an all boys population, they would be competing well in A schools hurling. I think it is only breaking even for Colaiste Choilm to be getting to a quarter or semi final of A schools football. They have almost a monopoly on the talent in the area...

Re: Offaly Senior Footballers 2024
Where do you start with that? Welcome to senior football chaps. Big gap from u20 to inter county senior. First half was as poor a half as I've seen from Co senior team in a long while. A few sympathy frees from referee kept us somewhat competitive at Half time. We were totally over powered in middle...

Re: Offaly Senior Footballers 2024
Nothing surprising really only Aiden Bracken. Was one of the better u20s on Kellys u20s in years before they won All Ireland and Central to Ballycommon success. Well capable. Hyland Hogan and Cunningham are big losses but Cunningham could appear in 2nd half. Huge game. Players have put in huge effor...

Re: Offaly Minor Football and Hurling 2023
Where are the posters that said it wasn't a fair that a combined team play in the schools competition. Last year was a one off. Next year we will be weaker again. And to emphasise the point, how come we can get 3 teams into A football and one in hurling. In football there is Colaiste Choilm Tullamo...

Re: Offaly Minor Football and Hurling 2023
Still here. It was unfair last year on other schools. Our co team got to All Ireland minor and U20 final and these all played in the team that walked Leinster schools. Kilcormac were in the A competition this year. Suggesting it to be ok would be like putting that Kilcormac school team up against Co...

Re: Offaly Senior Footballers 2024
I wouldn't put too much emphasis on O Byrne Cup even if that Dublin result was a poor one. There is and was lots going on for lads with Sigerson etc at time and hard to manage that with different loads on various players who had other things going on with college football. The league will tell us ex...

Re: Offaly Senior Footballers 2024
I'd agree and I'd add Keelan Cawley to that list. I've watched lots of that U20 team in adult club championship over last 2-3 years and none of them have stood out in any way at club level, bar perhaps Lee Pearson, Keith O Neill and possibly Harry Plunkett who isn't even on the senior panel. For wha...

Re: Offaly Senior Footballers 2024
Down and Sligo to go up for me. Limerick and Wicklow to drop. Sligo have real buzz in football in recent years. Their seniors have improved hugely under Tony McEntee and think Offaly are small bit off their level now. They were also extremely close to winning U20 All Ireland last year and were reall...

Re: Offaly Senior Footballers 2024
Is Keith O’Neill involved with the seniors this year? Really fast and exciting player. Scored 1-1 for Maynooth last night. Aaron Brazil and one of the Plunkett brothers also playing in a win over MTU Cork. I think he may have been injured again recently but he should be involved if not already. Any...

Re: Offaly Senior Footballers 2024
Futile enough to be suggesting championship teams at this stage given changes thatll occur through league and injuries etc but for what it's worth, id go along lines of following with competition also named. May have left out some due to just forgetting or not knowing they are on panel etc. 1. Duffy...

Re: Offaly Senior Footballers 2024
Good game in tough conditions, very breezy and slippy. Offaly much better in 2nd half. Struggled early on with Laois physicality. Laois made 9 changes at half time to Offaly's 2 or 3. We also played without John Furlong for 10 mins in second half as he was black carded before HT. Observations - midf...

Re: Offaly Senior Footballers 2024
Team v Laois is named. Might be considered experimental given some names in it and some left out but its certainly got lots of legs and mobility in it. Would not be one bit surprised if this becomes close to a starting team further down the line. Ian Duffy David Dempsey Diarmuid Finneran Ballinagar ...

Re: Offaly Senior Footballers 2024
You may want to check facts before making false statements online. Fact is that Tierney moved to Australia after Offaly started back training. He wasn't selected for training panel of approx 50 players as is within managements right not to select him. Beyond that, of course there are many reasons an...

Re: Offaly Senior Footballers 2024
Tbh, It is surprising to me how Panda and Tierney would not be considered to be in the best 5 or 6 inside forwards in county. Daingean were convincing winners in inter and will threaten in Senior B and Tierney was by far the best player for them. He is still young enough and more than good enough to...

Re: Offaly Senior Footballers 2024
Sorry to hear this. Panda has been a very good servant and probably one of our most prominent and reliable forwards over last 10 years.
