Re: Offaly Hurling Championships 2015
Kilcormac/Killoughey gave a minimal contribution to Offaly in 2015. Don't think that Coolderry will offer much more to Offaly in 2016. St Rynaghs & Birr have the more promising younger hurlers. Can't Agree with this. Kilcormac Killoughey lads were willing to commit. Some weren't ask. Kevin Gorg...

Re: Walsh Cup 2016
I am surprised that with all the promises made last year that the Walsh Cup game was not transferred to Rath or Banagher. I trust that the Offaly Co Board will now arrange for the Offaly v Limerick League game to be played in Birr.

Re: Club Championships 2016
As we enter 2016, I think it will dawn on many hurling clubs that the proposed Hurling Championship structure in Offaly will not be in the best interests of club hurling players. Club training will start soon as a first round is likely in mid April with a second round three months later in mid July....

Re: Leinster Club Championship
It appears that Offaly Co Board GAA has decided that the hosting of the Leinster Senior Club Football Final was more important than hosting the Leinster Club Junior Hurling Final between Lusmagh and Glenmore. The Lusmagh and Glenmore should have proceeded at O Connor Park on Saturday if the pitch wa...

Re: Club Championships 2016
The retention of existing 2 x 6 Team Hurling Groups is not a long term solution. You are correct when you state that the "long gap" is not wanted by anybody and is certainly not wanted by club players. I think that the proposed option was indeed a little too harsh on teams finishing third ...

Re: Club Championships 2016
I think this year proved to a degree that 1 group of 8 doesn't work! 2 x 4 will be run over shorter period with more meaning to each game! To me it is better that teams enter a competition with a genuine chance of winning it! That wasnt happening for many teams in last 10 years. St Brigids and Wals...

Re: Club Championships 2016
I am of the opinion that the Offaly's Hurling Clubs will be reluctant to change the Hurling Championship in Offaly following the experience of the football clubs. There were meetings held in the county to ascertain the view of the clubs. The vast majority of clubs suggested a Senior B Championship w...

Re: Club Championships 2016
I do not agree with a "Weak Group". If the club is senior, they are senior and all should have an equal chance. The "weak group" gives these teams an easier chance of reaching the knockout stages of the championship. If the aim is to "protect" the 4 weaker teams, then t...

Club Championships 2016
Very disappointed that the "6" group system with 4 teams qualifying from each group has been retained in the Senior Hurling Championship. I am of the opinion that if you are defeated in two championship games that your championship run should be virtually over. We now have a situation that...

Re: 2016 Championship
The recent poor performances by underage hurling teams from South West Offaly is in my opinion a direct result of the transfer of hurling games to Tullamore. Many younger players from south Offaly no longer attend Offaly Inter County games and as a result fail to develop a real interest in hurling. ...

Re: 2016 Championship
But even if I take your comment at face value, I'm still baffled - why in the name of jaysus would you host a county training session at this time of year the day before your ground is due to host an All Ireland club semi-final? Of course it's going to be cut up, what else was going to happen on a ...

Re: What are they smoking in Birr?
I don't think this year's Galway SHC final is a fair comparison with the situation in Offaly at the moment. Pearse Stadium is currently unavailable as they are doing work on the pitch so the situation becomes more similar to our own if both pitches are available next year. Then it'll be very intere...

Who was it that said the Galway final would never return to athenry..any1??kevin was it you..I think it was no hope of it changing.. The success of the Galway Senior Football final being hosted in the football heartland of Tuam is believed to have been a major factor in the Galway Senior Hurling Fi...
