Re: Supporters Club Revival
Best of luck to all involved. Hopefully we can start the small steps to getting back where we belong. I'll be joining up anyway.

Re: offaly 2013
There's no 'granny rule' in the example I used. Henry was a Dublin regular for 10 years. Both his parents are born and bred Clara people. His father Gene represented Offaly and his uncle Vincent started the '81 all Ireland. People like him should he asked would they like the chance to play for Offal...

Re: offaly 2013
I brought up this whole issue and its being misconstrued. I am talking about lads who are playing club football for their home clubs but aren't being selected for their counties, and have Offaly connections. We have a Coughlan lad who can't make his club team in Dublin. That's not what we want. Obvi...

Re: Clash of the Ash, is this the end?
Starting to see more and more kids with the fiberglass hurls. They are the future and if they like them as kids they'll play with them as adults. They don't break and in the current financial climate it will make sense for a father with a few kids. One 28" will do the whole family, as will the ...

Re: offaly 2013
High School Musical, you are very much mistaken. The Abercrombie Fitch clothing line is not mine, it is merely called after me. On a totally different topic, what do we all think about recruiting players from other counties for 2013. Look at David Henry in Raheny, he captained the Dubs in 2010, was ...

Re: offaly 2013
Class of 81 would you like 15 Rhode men on the team? I just wanna confirm something, you mentioned Alan McNamee roasting Dalton. Were you just making a point about Dalton or are you possibly suggesting Alan needs to be involved with Offaly in 2013? Alan Mac was the worst player on the field v Kildar...

Re: offaly 2013
I'm looking at very similar teams on here every winter. Ridiculous. K Casey is a good intermediate club footballer in Offaly but the bottom line is he's afraid of getting a belt. I never saw a forward capable of scoring when he's constantly lookin over his shoulder. Nigel Dunne another one who makes...

Re: Start pulling weeds and painting gables, Obama for Offal
It's a pity Shinrone were too slow in claiming him coz Moneygall is Offaly in name only. I worked down there in the week prior and on the day of the visit and it killed me to see all the Tipp flags flying, and hardly an Offaly one in sight. Also we stopped in Ollie Hayes on the way back from a stag ...

Re: Club football championship
Edenderry lost to a young Athy team last year. Clara beat Laurences in Newbridge in 2009 despite being 8 points down. They then beat Rathvilly with 14 men and were a point up on Portlaoise in the 2nd half playing with a huge gale in driving rain when the ref called a halt to proceedings. Hardly the ...

Re: Club football championship
People on here don't make favourites. Bookies do. And Rhode are favourites. It's not a Clara ploy, its fact.

Re: Club football championship
I agree that it should be tight. The two best teams in Offaly over the past 6 years and I make no apologies to Edenderry about that statement. Clara beat Rhode by a point in the 09 County Final. Rhode beat Clara by a point in the 2010 County Final, and Clara beat Rhode comfortably in the semi last y...

Re: Time for an Offaly GAA Merchandise Shop in O'Connor Park
I think we are going a bit overboard with the O'Connor Park bashing. Let's not forget the old stand, concrete seats and gravel underfoot. Soap was the least of our worries then.
Offaly has the best county ground in Leinster in my experience.

Re: Club football championship
I feel Clara underestimated Edenderry last year having beaten Rhode well in the semi. Hard to see that happening again, especially under new management. Clara to win with 4 or 5 to spare.
Rhode should have too much for Tullamore and will set up their 3rd county final v Clara in 4 years.

Re: Junior Football Championship
Just for anybody living away from Ireland, its Clara v Kilcormac/Killoughey in the Junior A Final and I suspect Clara won't be going in to OCP to present KK with their medals. A Clara footballer would have it bred in to him that he should be beating KK in football, just as it would be the other way ...

Re: Time for an Offaly GAA Merchandise Shop in O'Connor Park
I'd agree wholeheartedly. There's a lot to be said for trying on gear. I bought a windcheater/training top and got a large and its definitely an xxl. Had hardship sending it back to the UK I might add.
