Re: Election 2020 laois offaly

Is it an oversimplification to suggest Offaly will return 1 FF, 1 FG + 1 Carol Nolan?
While Leix return 1 FF, 1 FG + 1 SF.

Re: Club football championship 2023

Just looking at some scoring trends on the four Senior A teams whose seasons have ended. (Naturally the top scorer will be the freetaker, but I haven’t split the data between scores from play and from placed balls.) Durrow’s top scorer was Billy Fogarty with 2-12 from four games, followed by Kevin M...

I had no idea SR had such a dependency on the Lusmagh footballers. Literally no idea.

Re: Club football championship 2023

It wouldn't be unusual for a DRA announcement to be made in the wee small hours of a Saturday morning. The DRA members fit their DRA duties around their day jobs. Plus, August is the only month that legal people can take holidays, when courts aren't sitting. any update on the gracefield dra appeal ?

Their last three meeetings (where applicable)

Senior B quarter-finals mightn't be applicable, depends on Gracefield's submission to the DRA. Bracknagh v Ferbane In 2004, Ferbane were 2-12 to 0-7 winners in what appears to be their sole Senior championship meeting Durrow v Edenderry In 2018, Edenderry were 0-15 to 1-5 winners Last year Edenderry...

Re: Offaly Intermediate Club Hurling Championship 2023

In hurling, they won the Intermediate in 1935 and stayed Senior until 1948 (reaching semi-finals in 1936 and ’38, and the Final in 1940). Won Junior in 1953, followed with an Intermediate win the following year and stayed Senior until 1959. Then won Junior in 1963, Intermediate in 1964 and stayed Se...

Re: Offaly Intermediate Club Hurling Championship 2023

Believe it or not, Edenderry were 5-5 to 5-4 winners over in 1938’s Senior hurling quarter-final! Edenderry gave Drumcullen a walkover in 1964 while in their only other meeting (1965), Drumcullen were 7-10 to 1-4 winners.

Re: On this day 25 years ago

And on this day 25 years ago (9th August 1998) was the drawn Offaly v Clare semi-final. Brian Whelahan's penalty save my personal highlight. That, and the Clare supporter who complained to the Offaly supporter afterwards "it's alright for ye and yere replay, we have to come back again for the f...

Re: Offaly Senior A Hurling Championship 2023

Two, isn't it? Shinrone's late run of scores in 2022's group game against Belmont merely reduced an enormous deficit to seven points.
