Re: OFFALY UNDER 21 HURLING

POTH 2011 not good year for Offaly Minor with Joe Cleary in charge. Hurlers playing out of their own position, bit like the current Senior hurling team. Lads turned away from Offaly hurling that year because of Management decisions. I would not look at that team as a model to work from, especially b...

Re: OFFALY UNDER 21 HURLING

good to have someone appointed. So is it a 10 week, one year or two year appointment? Hogan Stand have it down as a 2 yr appointment with a review after one year - I think this is what I read. Great to see these lads taking the lead - wishing them best of luck - big job on hand in such a short time...

Re: OFFALY Hurling 2014

In relation to post by Observant 7 on 14/03/2014, I would like to correct something. It is a common mis-conception that we only won All-Ireland hurling titles under outside managers. OFFALY WON THEIR 1ST ALL- IRELAND SENIOR HURLING TITLE WITH AN OFFALY MAN AS MANAGER. He was Andy Gallagher from Tul...

Re: OFFALY UNDER 21 HURLING

Ahlethimoutwithit great post I would agree that trainers need to not be afraid to move with the times and make changes in coaching All of our U21 current good Hurlers in the clubs have been with the Development Squads and we would expect they have been well trained although I do know what you mentio...

Re: OFFALY UNDER 21 HURLING

Any person who saw the Kilcormac/Killoughey Under 21 "star-players" last Saturday will realise the huge task that awaits the Offaly Under 21 Hurling management when they are eventually appointed. Even at this late stage every effort should be made to get the best manager & allow that ...

Re: OFFALY Hurling 2014

Townsman I said Management including Manager not Manager from outside my intention is with no hidden agenda as an outsider, are you sure the best hurlers with talant was chosen in the past? Some would question who the correct 15 should be selected!

Re: OFFALY Hurling 2014

No reflection on Brian Whelehan and his team (still early days) but is it time OCB strongly consider going outside the County for Manager's Am I right in saying that All Ireland Winning Teams from Offaly were managed by outside Managers. Listening to Padraig Boland's interview on Radio 3 this mornin...

Re: OFFALY UNDER 21 HURLING

The County Board should really notify the U21 Hurlers of what is happening. Very unfair to not show respect to these lads who have devoted their time to the county - at great expese to themselves even to their education - all would have travelled from Colleges over the years and were loyal to the Co...

Re: OFFALY UNDER 21 HURLING

Yes it would be interesting to know who was asked to Manage Offaly U21 Hurlers Some names come to my mind, Johnny Pilkington Joackim Kelly Pat Fleury Pat Delaney Although maybe some may not have enough experience, but then how much experience did some managers of the past have, and what about Johnny...

Re: OFFALY UNDER 21 HURLING

Offaly Play Wexford or Kilkenny on the 25.6.2014. That 119 days and counting. Kilkenny U21 played a challenge match in the start of December against The Dublin u21 panel. that 77 days ago they have being in training for a month. around 100 days. So Offaly U21 are 100 days behind both of these teams...

Re: OFFALY UNDER 21 HURLING

Has the Offaly Under 21 Hurling Manager & Selectors been appointed yet. It was great to see Paschal Kellaghan appointed as Offaly Minor Football manager in good time. He has clearly done great work. Great victory over Cork. "Hurling" appears to be second class with our current Co Boar...

Re: NHL OFFaly v Laois 16 february 2014

Great day For the Parish! Conor Mahon is 2013 Senior Hurler of the Year, i'm sure there is a reason for this title.

He has contributed as good as many if not more over his year at County level therefore in my opinion your remarks are unfair

Re: NHL OFFaly v Laois 16 february 2014

When I heard Ger Coughlan was going to be one of Brian's selectors I had my concerns then and today brought back memories of the U21 match last June when changes were not made and good hurlers left on the bench. That day two or three hurlers did not perform at all and still changes were not made. If...

Team was: Slevin Couhghlan Kelleher Wynne Watkins Healion Doughan Brady Parlon Harding Currams Egan Carroll Gardiner Connolly Real winter stuff. Pitch looked as good as...
