Re: Offaly Senior Footballers Championship Thread

Clare are decent. We played well for what we have done. We were beaten by better side. Struggled big time in first half and Clare could easily have been 7 or 8 ahead at short whistle. Jamie Malone ran riot for them throughout scoring 1-4 from play and probably missed at least 2-2 in easy scoring ch...

Re: Offaly Senior Footballers Championship Thread

Gallows humour. I just hope they have a Plan B lined up. If they haven't, this could turn farcical.
More farcical, I mean.

Re: Offaly Senior Footballers Championship Thread

I'd read Alan's tweet as that of any disgruntled supporter- a result like that would make anyone weep. I don't know whether Brian's statement that was heat of the moment in the immediate aftermath, or if it was later on. Either way, it looks like washing dirty linen in public. The dog on the street ...

Re: Offaly Senior Footballers Championship Thread

Presumably it was a decision that sounded good at the time based on player welfare grounds, but now looks like they have backed themselves into a corner.

Re: 2018 NFL

Well done to the team, panel and management. Hopefully this will give a bit of breathing space and confidence before championship: losing today would surely have shattered morale. As BnaM Man said, hopefully next year will be looking at the other end of the table. Carlow and Laois going up, and poss...

Re: 2018 NFL

Haven't been to any games, but follow here, reports, social media, etc. The squad, for a number of reasons, seems a lot lighter and more inexperienced than last year, but one thing stands out for me, and that's the amount of chopping and changing that has gone on game by game. Maybe those that atten...

Re: 2018 NFL

Away v Derry next: could be a defining game for either side. The optimist in me would like to think it's an opportunity to turn a corner- the pessimist thinks you're always about to turn a corner if you're going around in circles. Derry are a side struggling for form and momentum: hard for them not ...

Re: 2018 NFL

The sexy football comment is going to haunt Wallace any time a result or performance isn't up to scratch. Wasn't at the game, but the twitter updates made for sad reading. Not the start for the new management and a lot of young players, but the only thing to do is focus on a couple of key features a...

Re: 2018 Bord na Móna O’Byrne Cup

It might be a 3rd string, but I'd imagine a fair portion of that 3rd string Dublin team would be there or thereabouts starting on a lot of county teams...

Re: Offaly Schools

Good win, showed great workrate and composure to see the game out. Plenty of room for improvement, but with the right application, they could progress further. Difficult squad to assemble as lads have a lot of commitments already, but over time this could be a very beneficial stepping stone for play...

Re: Leinster club championships 2017

Hard luck to the team and management. It looks to me that they assumed/ gambled on winning aerial battles on puckouts. Within minutes it was obviously going horribly wrong, so it's difficult to adjust midstream, especially with an element of panic setting in. Also looks as though they underestimated...
