Re: O'Byrne Cup 2013

Greatly encouraged by the display. Had a feeling midway through the second half that it might go to extra time but missing the penoscuppered that !!!! Keeper was solid but the one error was costly. Defence did well but dont agree that Shane was disciplined. He was extremely lucky in the second half ...

Re: O'Byrne Cup 2013

11 places into top 20 might be reaching. For the League 7 places to 24 & a place in Div 3 would be massive but as I said earlier (or elsewhere) that might have to wait another year. A good performance on Sunday and a good start to the League would do for now.

Re: Official Offaly Senior Hurling Team Thread 2013

Bit of a surprise that Tipp Minor Manager would allow his 6 to play Senior !!!!

Most counties are even holding their U21's back !!!

Re: O'Byrne Cup 2013

Of course the League is a higher priority than the O'Byrne ( or the pre-Christmas Meath CUP) but isn't it bril to be winning matches. Now the next one will be more difficult but its all great preparation for the League and all seems good in the camp, another great improvement. Bring on Kildare &...

Re: Cheating?

I have to admit to earning plenty of frees, grabbing the tacklers wrist, going down & pulling him down on top !!!! Now it was mostly as goalkeeper getting handy frees out when cornered but also the odd one when playing up front. Remember getting 2 in a couple of minutes on the opposition 14 in a...

Re: County's best Championship team of last 50 years

Have to say it again

Furlong was the best I ever saw, brilliant shot stopper and fear of God !!!!! OUCH !!!!

Only starting taking kick-outs in later years (Mick Ryan took them in 64 minor) Iron Man did for years it was only after MW messed them up in 80 that Martin took over.

Re: Daingean GAA 50th Anniversary 1962 Team

Yea, Mick Ashe played for Offaly for a few years including that League Semi Final v Kerry (Palm Sunday 59) and Kerry recruited him but only used him while Sean Murphy was injured. He continued to play with Daingean but never regained his Offaly place. He played many a great game for Offaly and for D...

Re: Interesting Offaly Jersey Design

No crests (other than a makey-up bogus job) so no Fee to GAA or Offaly. So its going to be a lot cheaper or make a lot more profit for seller !!!!

I'd prefer the Official & see a few bob going to the County
