Re: Gerry cooney

Jaze, I remember staying up all night watching The Deerhunter first followed by Cooney's clash with Larry Holmes. It was a sad end for The Great White Hope, but I am delighted to see he has reinvented himself in the world of GAA. A strange appointment indeed but like anyone else the minimum he deser...

Re: new football manager

Maybe Tony Cascarino will take it on on a part time basis, just keep him supplied with playing cards and maybe he'll win a few bob for the county board too. But... I've listened all my life to lads in pubs and hanging over sideline fences whinging about club officers, club committees, county boards ...

Re: Joe hits out at County Board

In the Indo today JD is didnt want to talk about the issue last night saying how important it is to keep the heads down and focus on the match. FFS who created all this. Maybe he did blow a gasket in OCP and spit the dummy out. But then he sat down and wrote a letter to the county board and had it s...

Re: So what DID happen?

...at the whim of the manager ... At the end of his tether more like. Lads either ye havent seen the extract from the Independent that POTH has posted or else ye are just chhosing to ignore it because sounds more realistic and less sensationalist. If the piece in the indo is correct then 1. The hur...

Re: easy side of the draw

old yellar, that was a terrific result today for ye against the most overated team in Leinster, Offaly beat Louth in Drogheda in the league by a point and it should have been 6 or 7, I thought Louth were very ordinary, there was way too much hype and bullshit about them last year after the Leinster...

Re: Cribben out, Darby in?

manager has to take full responsobility fair enough but as national media have said the players just arent there . if you have to come over to birr to pick players for your county football team ( they arent even senior ) what the hall does that say for the standard of football at senior club level ...

Re: Best Pub in Tullamore

Well 'the bare biffo', I hope you found a nice spot for a pint and enjoyed the Champions League final. It was a great game! Went from O'Connor park in a state of shock straight to Kelly's (Eugenes) on the corner and settled for the night. Nice spot, saw the last few minutes of Rugby and the soccer ...

Re: Cribben out, Darby in?

Of course our track record in front of goal is poor, but my point was that even a bad team would usually find a way to score one out of five chances, or another day Dalton's handpass might go unpunished, etc. I'm not arguing for a minute that the lads deserved a result out of that game, of course n...

Re: Cribben out, Darby in?

This panel, players and management included, have trained all year and that effort means that they are entitled to take their shot at the qualifiers. There's nothing to be gained from drafting a different manager or new players in now. The performance against Wexford is on their heads and it's up t...

I believe if Cribben has any integrity he should resign immediately.
He has nothing else to offer.

Re: Offaly Team to face Wexford in Leinster Football Championshi

The first game I remember seeing Offaly in the flesh was the 1974 Leinster Qtr final against Dublin when an ageing Offaly narrowly lost to what would turn out to be Heffos Army. Since then I have seen Offaly lose many games some close and some not so close. But holy jebus i never watched anything as...

Re: Offaly Hurling team for championship v Dublin

I used to listen to Finnerty banging on about the link between underage and senior success and think it wasnt relevan to a conty with a playing poulation the size of offaly's. But I think he was right. On another thread here theres a list of 7 leinster final appearances and including 4 wins in 8 yea...

Re: Best Pub in Tullamore

To watch the Champions League final, or for a quiet pint where the missus will ask you what's on your mind. Good man BnMM - you know the score. I'm getting a birthday treat of an overnight in Tullamore and ticket for the match. I suppose I'd be in my rights to see the CL final too, the day thats in...
