Re: Hurling Championship

I think Lusmagh will be fully focused on winning an intermediate county championship and not overly bothered about Leinster. Its good to see them doing well. I have not heard too much about Coolderry but they have had some good results. Who is hurling with them this year? Any young talent that shoul...

Re: Hurling Championship

Joe Bloggs is a very happy man today. Rynaghs coming good at the right time. They must be fancied at this stage. Should be a right good game between themselves and Shinrone. With Rynaghs and Shinrone in Intermediate and Junior semi finals respectively it will be interesting to see who will use the b...

Re: Junior Hurling Championship

I would imagine Raheen are very strong for that grade and Gracefield the closest to them. Both clubs only team so they should be capable of beating all the second string teams that are struggling to field teams. It will be between the two of them. No excuses for the county board, this championship s...

Junior Hurling Championship

Who is the favourite to take the Junior A title this year? Killavilla were fancied before a ball was pucked and probably still look like they should win it. Shinrone and KInnitty are probably the two teams that would be really expecting to have a say as well. Shinrone have a few players that could a...

Re: Intermediate Football Championship

Agree totally with lean times, it is scandalous. The bottom line is that no championship game should be fixed for a week night especially at this time of the year when games are having to be played an hour earlier. That means players have to be there an hour earlier. Complete stupidity and ignorance...

Re: Intermediate Qtr Final Shamrocks v st brigids

I reckon Brigids will win comforatbly. They had been very comfortable up to the last game with Shannonbridge. Think they experimented a bit wit the team and had a few injuries in that game but the Bridge are no bad outfit when they perform would rightfully have expectations of making the final. Not ...

Re: 1981 All Ireland Final - Kerry v Offaly

I would agree that some of the kicking was poor enough back then compared to now, but there's alot of intercounty footballers who have all Ireland medals these days that I would not trust to put a ball on my chest from even 30 yards either. I play football, have always had a huge interest in it but ...

Re: 1981 All Ireland Final - Kerry v Offaly

One thing that I certainly took from watching the 81 final on tg4 last night and many other archived games was how players just got on with playing football. It was physical, very hard hitting but none of the crap that goes on today. Look at Dublin who are supposedly the number one team in the count...

Re: Hurling Championship

Would have to say that unfair blame been labelled on Shamrocks by theman. They offered to play the game at a time that day that suited Clonbullogue. Its not their fault. You have to remember they are a dual club and fixtures are a big problem for them and all dual clubs like Brosna gaels, Belmont, T...

Re: Ratings of County football teams

Good post by Loneshark. Alot of people in the county still think we are better than alot of teams based on how good Offaly teams have been down through the years. The bottom line is that this is a completely new team who to date have been one of the worst teams in the country. I think we would strug...

Re: County Football (Potentials from junior and inter clubs)

Would it be fair to say that club football in the county has slipped dramatically since after 2008. Up to that you had a Rhode team that had huge ambitions for a leinster title and they were training harder and harder every year to get closer to that title. They had set the bar pretty much in Offaly...

Re: Offaly vs Cork - SHC Qualifier Rnd 2 07/07/2012

Just heard last night that a couple of the players have plans in place already to head over to the states again shortly. It made me think, are the heads really focused on this game and I mean focused in that they expect to go out and beat Cork. I think they give these teams far too much respect and ...

Re: Offaly vs Tipperary - SFC Qualifier Rnd 1 30/06/2012

but more worrying for me is that they seem to be lacking in the football side of things. in the games we played this year we struggled to score much scores , playing in divison 4 next year isnt going to help much either. Have to agree. The basic skills are lacking so badly. They have to start by ge...
