Re: Club Rankings

Edenderry are too high, based on the result during the week, Tubber are ahead and Walsh Islands Div. 1 final appearance may also see them pass the Reds out.

Re: Fields- Good and Bad

As a ground Edenderry is completely under utilised. IT would be ideal for Ballyfore and Bracknagh. It seems that the Co. Board deem it's necessary to select a ground mid-way between each club. This is a practice that evolved through earlier times when travel was not alway easy. I don't think even Gr...

Re: Offaly Championship Football 1st Round

Re: Leagues Clubs voted for Semis for the following reason; it was felt that if the top two played off in a final there would be too many games of non-significance around the mid table region in latter weeks of the league. I suppose there is merit in this arguement, but maybe another way to look at ...

Re: Offaly Championship Football 1st Round

It is true that the master fixture list, which has been honoured in the most part, was circulated to all clubs. It's obvious that the players were never told. Maybe this is due to the skeptism of many officials that it would not work. However I would suggest that a similar approach next year and it ...

Re: Offaly Championship Football 1st Round

In fairness to the county board, they did say all along that the championships were starting in July - albeit it was a ridiculous time to pick because it was the time that we were most likely to have intercounty games, but even so. I feel your pain when it comes to junior stuff, I'm hoping to make ...

Re: Offaly Championship Football 1st Round

Your Club was notified in January of all league fixtures dates and that the Championship would start in w/k Jul 11/12 if Offaly were out of the Championship. It was also pointed out that the if Offaly were still in the Championship it would be delayed by one week.

Re: Club notes: Special thread for people to post club notes?

The key phrase in the rule in "as such". The first part of the rule is clear, that no political business may be discussed at meetings or political questions tabled. The "as such" phrase leaves it open for an individual to get personally involved in party politics, once it didn't ...

Re: The Leagues

I think what has happened here is as follows: The league Semi Finals and Finals dates for all divisions were set in jan. (13/14th June and 19/20th June Respectively). Because of the additional teams in Div. 3 & 4 it was decided to split them in order to ensure the league could be finished. in do...

Re: Club notes: Special thread for people to post club notes?

I don't want to be pedantic, however by favouring one candiate over another in the elections your club may be in breach of rule 7 of the Official Guide Non-Party Political/Non-Sectarian (a) The Association shall be non-party political. Party political questions shall not be discussed at its meetings...

Re: Lá na gClub

A savage day of outrageous fun and frolics was had by all in Edenderry GAA. As ever everyone underestimated the strength of GAA in the town. As a show of strength the parade was well supported and led out by the Tullamore Piped Band. The games all went off without a hitch and the final game between ...

Re: Something for club committees to think about.

Interesting article and subsequent comments, just a few points of note based solely on observation and no hard facts 1. The drop off in participation in Offaly could be attributed to the Brain Drain that affects this County. Lads and Lassies head off to College and most never return on a permanent b...
