Re: McDonnell in running for Offaly football job

Well he's setting his stall out early at least, saying the things we want to hear. Only time will tell if he can follow through with this ambitious plan but best of luck to him. Paul O'Kelly was taking a very similar apporach in 2003 - I wonder where we'd be now if we'd showed faith in him. Patienc...

Re: What wrong and whats right in Offaly gaa

See another short clip from the U8 action last night in Edenderry http://www.youtube.com/embed/zcg7ezbHuik? Its great that these games have received such a positive response in the opening weeks of the programme. These modified games are fantastic for the reason quoted above in relation to the fact ...

Re: What wrong and whats right in Offaly gaa

By all the accounts the first weekend of the Go Games proved very successful. U10 Hurling mini blitzes were held at four venues across the County. Tonight the U8 Mini Blitzes will be held and on Wednesday night the first round of the U12 Hurling Mini League will take place. More details of the full ...

Re: Another crisis in Offaly football

Football is in a crisis of sorts at the moment. But lets be realistic here, we need to give this management some time and space in order to put their plans into action. Our big issue is the structures in place throughout the clubs scene and down into underage. The CB have taken some steps along wit...

Re: Faithful Pioneers: Offalys Football Breakthrough, 1960/6

Just one other thing, I went to one of the shops selling the book especially to buy it and searched all over, expecting a prominent display somewhere. In the end I had to ask at the counter, where the girl rummaged around and got a copy for me. Hopefully this was because they'd only just arrived an...

Re: Offaly Senior Football Club Championship 2011

My understanding is that if Rhode beat Walsh Island then the Semi Final draw will not be fully open as the two table toppers Gracefield and Rhode must be ceded and kept apart.

This will result in Edenderry & Clara being kept apart also

Signs of progress for Gracefield and Edenderry over the weekend but one would still have to say that its Rhode's Championship to lose

Re: Offaly Senior Football Club Championship 2011

Can someone tell me what the relegation situation is? Pretty straight forward. Shamrocks and Tubber meet in the playoff. Loser is relegated. Tubber should win easily. Id be suprised if its less than 10 points. Shamrocks are not putting in any effort at all. The loss of so many players has killed th...

Re: Transfers

Transfers have been a part of the GAA for a very long time and in years gone by before the advent of fast cars and motorways it was probably even more prevalent that today but probably for very genuine reasons. Everyone knows a School Teacher, Bank Official or Garda that moved into their area someti...

Re: General Election time

All local issues are irrelevant in this Election, there is one major issue - Debt Crisis - and this Election should basically be a Referendum on the approach to be taken. In the absence of any real figures, clarity on interest rates, identity of bondholders etc, combined with a muddled world of spin...
