Just heard on RTE that Tom Coffey is the interim manager. Does that mean we will go through last year's charade again after the championship?
There won't be too many candidates queueing up for the job.

Re: Relegated
I think if there was a Division 5 Offaly would wind up there at present!!. The switch of the Kildare game to Sunday, where it will be part of a double header, as Brackngh Boy wrote, means RTE want at least one competitive game that day. All about viewers. Wonder are Ireland playing in Euro 2012 tha ...

Think it has to be Macari's in the Market Square Tullamore. It's clean and the food is good. Supermac's is not bad either.

Re: o byrne cup vs kildare
I never thought Offaly would win today, the scale of the defeat was vey disappointing. Offaly were 10 points down at half time with the wind!. 4 points were scored in the second half, to 7 from Kildare, who had eased off then. Kildare were bigger, fitter, and better, but as posters said, Kildare are...

Re: Lost in the Bog
Killeigh has always been divided into hurling and football areas, the former around Killeigh, with football concentrated in the Geashill/Cloneygowan area. In recent years Raheen entered a junior hurling team, Killurin have been a separate hurling club since 1985. Ballinagar are a junior football clu...

Re: Faithful Pioneers: Offalys Football Breakthrough, 1960/6
Like POTH, I attended yesterday's launch of Faithful Pioneers, and it was memorable to see so many of the players from that era, who put Offaly football on the map. I was only a small boy when I attended with my late parents, and extended , family, the 1960 Leinster Final, Offaly's first, and the Al...

Re: Brian Cowen's legacy of failure as Taoiseach
Personally, I don't think that this thread should be on this website, as I don't believe that it has anything to do with GAA in Offaly. There are plenty of other forums out there to discuss politics in Ireland. This forum usually gives me an outlet away from all of the political news (which went in...

What's the story about Paddy Carr? He announced during the week that he wasn't an Offaly SF selector for 2012. During the week I saw the following headlines in the paper... Cooney backs Carr Carr tyres of prolonged interview process Negotiations with Carr break down Carr driven out of Offaly Carr o...

Re: James Rigney ponders switch to London
I agree with the comment that Offaly County Board are not obliged to find work for players. Why is a GAA county player to be treated differently than say, a person who isn't a GAA member. Nowadays players are too ready to give interviews to the media. If James Rigney can get work in London, go and t...

Thought he'd manage Laois, the county of his ancestors?
I wonder if Offaly County Board would consider calling in the IMF?, think they would pull OCB into line!

Now that the Senior Final is over, any ideas on next Saturday's JFC Final between parish neighbours Daingean and Cappincur. Will Daingean finally deliver and capture the JFC title or will Cappincur's good form continue?

Re: Offaly Senior Hurling Club Championship 2011
Wow, that is some stat to say that birr have only been beaten 4 times in 10 years in championship hurling. It shows their consistency and ability to deal with the favorites tag very well. It also further highlights the achievement of tullamore to beat them in back to back knock out games. Final sho...
