Re: 2015 Walsh cup
And so to Plan B... There's a range of issues beyond management that needs to be addressed; if Whelehan manages to stabilise the ship this year (which by all accounts here seems unlikely), what then? Or if he walks away, or is given the P45? Who is next- Danny Owens? And if it's not working for him,...

Re: 2015 O' Byrne Cup
Regardless of how poor the opposition may have been, I'd imagine it's a while since Offaly were able to canter to such an easy win?!

Re: County Board 2015
Fair play to any and all who put themselves forward; it's easy to criticize from the outside. Sometimes it's easy to zone in on one aspect, and miss the bigger picture and all of the other factors that have to be aligned in order to make everything fit. I suppose all that anyone can fairly ask is th...

Re: Rhode in Leinster - 2014
Hard luck to Rhode, not the way they would have liked to go out, only got bits and pieces of radio commentary as I was on the road (Gerry Russell, sounds like a nice fella, but the match is very much left to your imagination every time you hear "Ahhhch, a terrible ball in there!!!"), but I...

Re: Kilcormac-Killoughey in Leinster - 2014
llkj, we'll have to agree to differ on this point- first up, congrats on the minor medal, they're not easy to win in either code. I think that most now are competitive in their grades and are well coached, or at least should be this day and age. If the school team is properly run, then the chances o...

Re: Kilcormac-Killoughey in Leinster - 2014
First up, as this looks to be going off on a tangent, the very best of luck to K/K in the final; it's a big ask, but they've rode their luck so far, and I'm sure they'll raise their performance level next time out. Secondly, and because I'd have a personal interest in it, I'd have to say that playin...

Re: Offaly Hurling the real problem
Perseverance with the players that are available now, ensuring they can get the best supports and preparation to be the best they can be is all that can be done at the minute with the senior team. Time and patience required to develop underage to get to a level of consistently challenging for honour...

Re: Resounding vote of confidence in the County Board
I think this thread should be referenced anytime in the future when (or if) complaints about the way things are run arise, if they happen to arise. I'm now worried that Endangered Kenny will win the next election. From the brink of revolution, riots and people taking to the streets, the status quo w...

Re: Under 21 and minor Leinster 2015 draws
That's true- playing Kilkenny served Offaly poorly in the past. As well to face the top dogs first, and get extra game if beaten, or the boost of a win against one of the strongest as a launch pad.

Re: Offaly GAA is in Some State
I would have liked to have gone along, even though I'd be more involved in the football side of things, but I'd do a bit with the small ball now and again. The idea of an overarching plan is a prerequisite for progress, and improving the coaching, as has been alluded to, is a bread and butter compon...

Re: Well done Padraig Boland and CB
Credit where credit is due. Padraig Boland could be turning into Ed Woodward!! With the type of facilities he has spoken about, plus a high standard of coaching, surely an improvement in fortunes will come. Patience and good planning are a must, and things like gear and other traditional bugbears wi...

Re: Offaly Senior Football Management 2015
Would Anthony Cunningham be worth an approach, if Galway hurlers go with Anthony Daly? He'd be an experienced head, and between club football and county hurling, has operated at the highest level?

Results from Round 2: Group 1 Ballycumber/ Tubber 3-11 St Broughans 3-9 Na Fianna 3-19 Edenderry 5-13 Seem like two cracking matches- anyone at either? Group 2 Clara 4-10 Shamrocks 0-5 Rhode 1-11 Ferbane/ Belmont 2-13 Shamrocks totally collapsed in the second half, Rhode maybe closer than would have...
