Re: Offaly Hurling where do we go from here?
I try every year to get to the AI hurling final and I have to say I simply enjoy the skills levels and commitment of the players regardless of who they play for. Of course I would like to see someone outside of the big 3 win but Kilkenny and Cody have to be admired for what they have done since 2000...

Re: Offaly v Kildare, Senior football qualifier, 4th July
The loss to Longford was hard to take after the great league final win but perhaps there is a bit of light emerging under Pat Flanagan. Consolidating our position in division 3 next year is of vital importance. We will be in with Kildare and Westmeath (both down from div 2), Tipp, Sligo, Clare, Lime...

Re: Offaly Hurling where do we go from here?
Unfortunately First Touch you are right when you say that while we might be at rock bottom we can drop even further if we don't act now. I feared the Laois game this year and the qualifier group next year won't be a cake walk either. Of course you are also correct about the responsibility of the cou...

Re: Offaly Hurling where do we go from here?
1. Accept where we are now without qualification i.e. at rock bottom 2. Forget about what we have won in the past (and for me this is difficult) 3. Forget the blame game i.e. It's the County Boards fault, its Brian Whelehans fault, it's the current players fault etc etc 4. Accept that ALL our resour...

Re: Offaly vs Clare - 2015 Senior Hurling Qualifier R1
Just been listening to a great half hours radio on Off the Ball on Newstalk. Michael Duignan and Anthony Daly speaking about 1998.They covered everything including how as Duignan recalls in his book about him meeting Jimmy Cooney years later at the Galway races and having a great clear the air chat....

Re: Offaly vs Clare - 2015 Senior Hurling Qualifier R1
I was just looking at the Clare GAA thread on boards.ie and all they are talking about is a Crossbar Challenge the Clare team did and a skit involving their trainer Tommy Hegarty cycling around the pitch which has been posted online and more nonsense about Davy hiring a PR firm to issue statements. ...

Re: All-Ireland Football Qualifiers
Good to see that the team have hung in there for Pat Flanagan. We are now into round 2A after today's win against Waterford. A home draw against Clare (or Sligo or Fermanagh IF they lose their provincial semi final) would I suppose give us a decent chance of progress. That match will be on Saturday ...

Re: A few thoughts on Galway v Laois
Hope Laois put it up to Galway (even for our sake !).
You just never know with Galway. As we all know on countless occasions since 1988 Galway have flattered to deceive.
Could be a Laois v Wexford Leinster final.
I think I need to change my meds !!

Re: Offaly v Waterford Football Qualifier
Final result - Offaly 1-20 Waterford 1-7. We were down a point at half time.
A win is a win I suppose even if Waterford are poor.
Better than last year anyway when we lost to Wicklow

Re: All-Ireland Football Qualifiers
I don't believe we "should put away the footballs" now. However I also genuinely believe that a game against Dublin in Croke Park at this moment in time would not be of any benefit to us. I want us to return to the great days where our hurlers and footballers took on and beat the best but ...

All-Ireland Football Qualifiers
After our loss to Longford and their mauling yesterday by the Dubs nobody is probably looking forward to the qualifiers but here goes - Our first (and hopefully not our last ) game will be on Saturday 20th June. We are in a group with Carlow, London, Cavan, Longford, Waterford, Antrim and losers of ...

Re: Offaly vs Longford, Leinster SFC, Saturday 16/05/2015
I believe that our approach over the next say 3/5 years should be first of all to make progress in the league and second of all to pour whatever resources we have into our underage development squads. A win in the Leinster championship should be taken as a bonus if it happens. For next season we mus...

Re: Offaly vs Longford, Leinster SFC, Saturday 16/05/2015
It saddens me to say it but we had a lucky escape.
And please don't anyone post that we would have done better today
