Re: Offaly football champions
Just on Fargo Boyle's point, Quarrymount won 2 titles at the turn of the 20th century, the area is just inside the Laois border, south of Killeigh, obviously boundarires were a bit looser then! In the first decade of the last century Geashill were prominent in Offaly football, contsting and winning ...

Re: General Election time
Enda did a good job in pulling FG into shape after the 2002 election blitz, and has made them serious contenders for Government. With a different leader could they get that elusive overall majority as the largest party for the first time since the foundation of the state? Not sure I'd agree that Ke...

Re: General Election time
There is a lot of speculation on the make up of the next Dail, after the next election. It will be an FG/Labour coalition, with Fianna Fail taking a big hit from the electorate. It will be interesting to see how Eamonn Gilmore performs in Government, now that he has to deliver a policy, rather than ...

Re: General Election time
Posted this up on GAAboard, but the same thing applies.... In Offaly I would still expect 2 FF to return, probably Cowen with Moloney. Fleming will lose out, but sadly a national vote of 20% would still translate to 35% here, and that will push two of them over the line. FG will actually struggle t...

Re: RHODE MARCH ON
BNM. Would that 'Rye Malone' by any chance be Roy Malone, of Rhode and once Offaly??.
It lost in the Midlands 103 translation, did he score a'gold'?

Re: Intermediate championship
I heard that Rynagh's won by 6 points. Any idea of the score, type of game etc.
I agree that this competition, and the others should be well finished by now.

Re: Kilcormac lodge an objection to semi-final fiasco
Kilcormac/Kiloughey had enough chances to win that game, but didn't take them.
They should move on, and let the final go ahead.

Re: Rhode vs Clara Offaly SFC Final 2010
Clara must havethought at half time they were in with a great chance, they were level and would had wind advantage in the second period. Their forwards seemed to be outnumbered by Rhode, who gradually took control, and took their chances. Niall McNamee was excellent, and picked off some great scores....

Re: County senior football championship
Concrete. Have you hardened in your opinion that Tullamore can progress in the SFC?, (sorry about that bad joke) Having seen Rhode and Clara struggle in their quarter finals recently, I think they are both beatable. Their respective backlines are shaky, and if opposing forwards take their chances, s...

Re: Páidí Ó Sé - 28 years of bitterness and delusion
Will Kerry ever grow up, and get that massive chip off their green ang gold shoulders!. Offaly on that day, forget the margin, we won. Of more serious concern is that we faded from the scene after that, one Leinster SFC, in 1997. Why did we go off the radar so much? Kerry regrouped and won 3 in arow...

Re: County senior football championship
Tubber must be kicking themselves after losing a game to Clara, that they dominated for most of the game, but failed to convert that advantage into scores. Tubber had a Ciaran McManus penalty saved by an excellent Kevin Meehan, in the second half. Clara added a late goal from John Reynolds after Tub...

Re: Weekend Predictions
I hear that Brian Connor's red card was rescinded. He will be a big boost to Walsh Island.
My predictions.
Rhode, Clara, Shamrocks and Walsh Island to advance to the semi finals.

Re: Latter Stages of Junior A
Semi Final. Shamrocks 4-8: Tullamore 0-8. Shamrocks ran riot in the second half, scoring 4-3. 3 goals in first 15 mins killed off game, first was on o.g, second and third followed in quick succession. Tullamore out of sorts all over the field, fourth goal came at the end. Shamrocks played very well,...

Re: The all Ireland hurling final
Actually Tipp. won in 2001. Along with Cork and Kilkenny they are regarded as the 'big 3'. Their names crop up every year when Liam Mc Carthy is looking for a home. Offaly, Galway, Clare, Waterford, and Limerick lost All Irelands in the 'noughties'. Ithink though, that Kilkenny will win on Sunday. I...

Re: The all Ireland hurling final
For neutrals, it's a case of more of the same, as both counties have dominated hurling. Won't lose any sleep over either county.
For 2011 let's hope a new team challenges Kilkenny.
