Personally I think it is an affront for anybody in the stadium be they English or Irish to have to listen to 'that' song. Yes, it is a sad day on any terrace when the opening chords of 'Ireland's Call' are struck up. It is a funny sight when you are standing (in Lansdown Rd up until now) and you loo...

I agree Muck Savage. I know that there is an air of optimism in Longford this year and a few of the older fold are returning such as David Hanniffy (ex UCD midfielder). Others such as the Barden brothers are re-energised for this year. Longford don't expect an All Ireland but a semi final or final a...

Feck, that looks terrible. Every team (with the possible exception of Kilkenny) should be able to compete for Sam. You can make the case in Hurling where only about 13 or 14 teams are seriously able to compete for the McCarthy and historically many of the 'others' haven't fielded a team in the champ...

If we are talking legends then Sonny Lynam and Laz Molloy should be included on the football side.

John Troy on the hurling side.

I'd back you up on MacManus. To range from the the ridiculous to the sublime so often you have to be a special player. When all is said and done I'd rather have him in my corner. For his amazing goals and unselfish sacrifices on the field not to mention the pride we all felt seeing him in an Irish j...

Offaly Hurling Greats - Wikipedia

I was browsing Wikipedia and saw Sid's name as one of the hurling greats. This got me to thinking that this site is the perfect forum to pay due respect to Offaly greats of the past and preserve their memory using the great online encylopedia. So follow the link and go to town on it. http://en.wikip...

Anthony, averaging a 31.6 points per game for the Nuggets, was suspended after shoving New York's Nate Ro...

Remember Ronnie O'Brien?

Did anybody else vote for him in 1999? Taken from the 'Time' website - And then there was the luck of the Irish. In August, a previously unknown soccer player named Ronnie O'Brien shot to the top of the poll when a patriotic e-mail campaign motivated thousands of Irish to vote repeatedly for the obs...
