Re: Offaly vs Westmeath NFL 10/04/2011
Has the team been announced yet? Same old story - can't find it anywhere... Why the great mystery in finding Offaly teams listed in the media, hurling and football. Is it some cunning plan to keep us all guessing until the match starts?. Division 3 football isn't going to cause any great excitement...

Re: Offaly v Wexford - NHL 27/03/2011
Some posters have commented on the absolute lack of coverage of today's vital NHL game. I saw no mention of it on the match summarys and zero coverage on RTE's hurling league programe. Might as well have played it on the moon. Another example of rubbing bour noses in it fixture wise. Next weekend Of...

Thanks LS. That's a useful looking side for tomorrow night, could be the basis of a senior team.

Re: Offaly vs Westmeath 2011 Leinster U21 football championship
Gavin Shiels plays in goal for Killeigh, and plays at midfield as well. He also lines out for the hurlers.
Is that Raheen's Paddy Rigney at no 14 tomorrow night?. he played for Offaly minors a few years ago.
Finally how do you get to Pairc Ciaran off the Athlone bypass?

Re: Corrigan calls for Parish Teams
Just to remind GDFTP that hurling is very much alive in Killeigh parish. The parish differs from neighbouring Dangean, as it is divided into hurlig, Killeigh/Killurin area, and football in the Geashill/ Cloneygowan area. Even then Killeigh and Killurin compete as separate clubs, with Raheen fielding...

Kerry guy. Could Paul Galvin model a 5 in a row teeshirt?. He says he wants to study fashion in DIT. That could be his project.

Re: Offaly v DCU
Is it time to ditch the O'Byrne Cup and similar competitions? I can't see the point in playing these games, with depleted squads, and paying €10 for the dubious privilege. The GAA should revert to playing the leagues in November/ December, and resuming in February. That would do away with the ban on ...

Re: Offaly football champions
Just on Fargo Boyle's point, Quarrymount won 2 titles at the turn of the 20th century, the area is just inside the Laois border, south of Killeigh, obviously boundarires were a bit looser then! In the first decade of the last century Geashill were prominent in Offaly football, contsting and winning ...

Re: General Election time
Enda did a good job in pulling FG into shape after the 2002 election blitz, and has made them serious contenders for Government. With a different leader could they get that elusive overall majority as the largest party for the first time since the foundation of the state? Not sure I'd agree that Ke...

Re: General Election time
There is a lot of speculation on the make up of the next Dail, after the next election. It will be an FG/Labour coalition, with Fianna Fail taking a big hit from the electorate. It will be interesting to see how Eamonn Gilmore performs in Government, now that he has to deliver a policy, rather than ...

Re: General Election time
Posted this up on GAAboard, but the same thing applies.... In Offaly I would still expect 2 FF to return, probably Cowen with Moloney. Fleming will lose out, but sadly a national vote of 20% would still translate to 35% here, and that will push two of them over the line. FG will actually struggle t...

BNM. Would that 'Rye Malone' by any chance be Roy Malone, of Rhode and once Offaly??.
It lost in the Midlands 103 translation, did he score a'gold'?
