Re: Parish Rule
I suppose there is many factors what is the club doing to keep the players attracted to the club and wanting the young lads to stay? Going on what is leaving it would suggest not much. Considering both clubs were senior about 15 years ago its a considerable fall. Maybe the club developed them and n...

Re: Parish Rule
Following on from Luke Watkins’ controversial transfer from Ballyskenagh/Killavilla to Shinrone the Carney twins are now looking to follow the same path. If you were a member of Ballyskenagh/Killavilla you’d have to fairly disillusioned with all this. https://www.offalyexpress.ie/news/gaa/1403598/ta...

Re: Offaly Senior Hurlers 2024
Dan Ravenhill, Adam Screeney, Declan Cleary & Dan Bourke are in with seniors so far not sure who else. Adrian Cleary and Paddy Clancy have opted out for the year. Also heard that Paul Cleary from Shinrone and Kieran Connors from Clareen are in. Langton brothers no longer part of the panel. Dan ...

Re: Condolences Thread
An amazingly gifted hurler. A joy to watch. One of the greatest forwards to ever grace the game. 1 All Ireland SHC 1981 2 Leinster SHC 1980, 1981. 6 Offaly SHC 1967, 1978, 1979, 1983, 1984, 1985 1 All Star 1981 Corner Forward on the Offaly Team of the Millenium. But his infectious enthusiasm for the...

Re: Offaly Senior A Hurling Championship 2023
Correct. So theoretically they can start 2024 playing Senior B and work their way to Senior A. The reality of it for K/K next year is by the end of the group stage of the championship they will probably have 21 or 22 guys who can only hurl Senior A for the rest of the year. The 18 named, plus the 3 ...

Re: Offaly Senior A Hurling Championship 2023
My understanding is the following. Technically, all those who played in the winning Senior B final are graded Senior next year. That would mean that Kilcormac-Killoughey would have around 40 players graded Senior next year. However, the regrading rules changed about five years ago. Prior to that, t...

Re: Club football and hurling managers 2033
Shane Curley from Roscommon to take over in Belmont. Unsure if that is coaching and/or management. Had previously been with Four Roads and Cappataggle. I say it must be the coaching side of things going by the last paragraph of this article. https://roscommonpeople.ie/no-complacency-in-four-roads-c...

Re: Club football and hurling managers 2033
Paul Keane from Adare to take over in Shinrone. Was fairly swiftly appointed after Fletcher left. Following a quick Google search I see that Paul Keane has led Adare to a league title in Limerick, a Senior B title with Burgess in Tipperary and a Clare Cup (Division 1 League) with O'Callaghan Mills ...

Re: Club football and hurling managers 2033
Any word on hurling managers? Brian caroll over coolderry. Tullamore staying the same? Birr the same mgt. Ballinamere same Kinnitty looking Clareen looking Kk the same mgt. Shinrone? Kilcormac/Killoughey - Judging by some of his interviews and the general vibe I would say Shane Hand will step aside...

Birr would be far stronger than Kilcormac this year.

Re: Club football and hurling managers 2033
Surprised by the St Rynagh's decision. Liam Dunphy and James McGrath are highly enough regarded. Maybe they left of their own regard. Denis Byrne seemed to be making some progress with Coolderry and they improved on 2022. Both management teams only got 1 year which is probably not ideal. Apparently ...

So enlighten us then. What are these clearly inferior primary schools not doing that the Boys School in Birr is doing?greenairfield wrote: ↑Wed Nov 15, 2023 2:31 pm Never said that at all its just a rather large factor and it is more than fair to say that.

Re: Offaly Senior A Hurling Championship 2023
Similar to Tullamore not on the same level at all go back to bed. A very small pool of GAA in Birr with borders all around the town. Most of their players go to school outside of Birr in that could be the main problem. So Birr's woes lie at the doors of the primary schools outside of Birr. Wow! Tha...
