Charity Event

Just a note to let everyone know that there will be a Gladiators tournament running in Ferbane G.A.A. pitch on Saint Stephen's Day at 2 p.m. It will be in aid of the Suicide Action Group. There will also be a raffle held afterwards for an Offaly jersey signed by all four All-Ireland winning Offaly c...

Re: Rhode V Kilmacud

Kavanagh will probably be playing centre forward and is not playing the best he's ever played. Don't think he is Rhode's biggest threat.

Re: Rhode V Kilmacud

Rhode are 9/2 in bookies in Dublin! Crazy! I've been living up here for five years and I can't see anything in Crokes for Rhode to fear. I'd expect Rhode to win, not sure by how much though

Re: Offaly Waterford Challenge game?

Don't really know the situation with the Carlow thing fully but yeah they were getting expenses for mileage. They could have just being claiming and no-one was asking any questions and getting away with it but that could never happen here! I remember a few years ago playing under 21 and two lads hav...

Re: Offaly Waterford Challenge game?

From what I've seen, heard and experienced it is next nigh impossible to get what your owed from the county board. If there was a las travelling within ten miles of your house they would get him to detour to pick you up rather than have to pay two sets of expenses. They would only pay my expenses la...

Re: Charity Match

I think it was in or around two grand. Not as much as previous years but truth be told we didn't really have much time to organise it this year through no fault but our own. All in all the game went well and I suppose every little helps.

Re: Charity Match

Well that depends on if you count yourself as a young lad or an auld lad, LS. :) Since we (the young lads) have won the last three years we got first pick and have decided to go with shirts and dickie bows. The auld lads were going to go with women's clothes but seem to have tapped out since then so...

Charity Match

The annual Ferbane charity match is taking place Saint Stephen's Day in the G.A.A. pitch at 2pm. It will be fancy dress International Rules in aid of the Breast Cancer Association. Support would be appreciated. There will also be a raffle afterwards for some G.A.A.-related prizes. It does be great c...

Re: http://www.ofonebelief.org/home/

This is going to be my only comment on this subject. There comes a time in every sport where amateurism dies and the first steps towards professionalism are taken. It has happened in any sport you care to mention and I am sure it is always greeted with the same arguements that are being put forward ...

It all depends on what one thinks of when they think of the teams in question. My hatred of Westmeath was drilled into me from an early age from my mother (who is from Clara) because the people of Kilbeggan hung Down flags on All-Ireland final day 1961 so that the Clara crowd going to the match woul...

From what I hear the ref went to the stand to ask a (neutral) spectator the score at half time and when he said he didn't know the ref went down to one of his umpires (who is an actual neutral official umpire by the way, not affiliated to either club) and the umpire said there was a point in it. The...

Just to add the (very) little bit that I know on this subject. Richie Power is overage so I would assume it wasn't him that came on but probably Richie Hogan who is another great hurler. Not to the same extent as Power but a class act nonetheless. Not a hundred per cent sure bur he could be in the K...

Who'll get young player of the year? There is a strong chance that my college might have the young player in both codes this year.

My mother is from Clara  and the way she always told it was that Clara were the first club to fly the tricolour after the Rising. Not sure though. I just can't admit that the ManFromFerbane is right!

By the way MFF, get a job you bum!
