Re: Offaly u21 Hurling

jimbob, again you talk about this south / north offaly thing. This is simply not the case, there is bias against clubs from both sides of the county depending on the person that takes charge of the team. An example I could give was the under 21s last year. Coolderry won the county championship yet d...

Re: Joe hits out at County Board

Again my comments are being taken up wrong. Il have one more go at it and then il leave it. If I cant get my point across there im not trying to argue with anyone for the sake of it. The point I was trying to make was that you can take your traditionaly strong clubs in either code in any county for ...

Re: Offaly u21 Hurling

I traveled in hope rather than anything else tonight. We started extremely well, aided by some easy misses from frees by dublin we grew into the game in the first 10 or 15 and found ourselfs 6 - 2 up, Adrian Hynes had caught two balls at full forward but just lacked the legs to really make a go for ...

Re: Joe hits out at County Board

Well i think we have the usual on here, a few people trying to debate this issue in a reasonable manner followed by quite a few on both sides making nonsensical arguments. I have explained the hurling side of the argument at nausem, if it is simply a question of funds, i would agree with another pos...

Re: Joe hits out at County Board

I think the last few posters have hit the nail on the head. There are far fewer arguments to keeping the games in OCP to bringing them back to birr. And those who say that bringing it back to birr affects the developement of hurling in offaly clearly dont have a clue. You dont "develop" th...

Re: Offaly v Cork

Playing Galway under 21s the week before a knock out championship game. Now doesnt that say it all about the ambition of the management. Galways seniors cant even beat Dublin, a team we ran extremely close with a lot of players missing, and then what does the genius in charge do, sure lets play thei...

Re: Joe hits out at County Board

backofthenet so we are just saying for arguement sake that birr holds roughly 5000.so you reckon for the games offaly play in birr this would be near full and that 80% of supporters are in this one area around birr.so can you tell me where this 5000 were when we played dublin in croke park?you use ...

Re: Joe hits out at County Board

I think part of your comment above proves one of the points I was trying to make. That being that Offaly hurling - and football for that matter - tend to harp back to glory days in the past, are reluctant to move with the times, and ultimately get passed out by other counties and left behind. When ...

Re: Joe hits out at County Board

All this stuff about playing in Birr should've been ironed out years ago. Certainly some games, maybe league games especially in Div 2, could be in Birr. But I don't see the long term advantage of Offaly playing home games at a ground that won't be able to accommodate big championship matches. And ...

Re: Joe hits out at County Board

agree with offalyman08 100%.we are a county who should be united as one, theres hurling teams in edenderry under6,8,10,12,14,16 and the junior A team.gracefield, killeigh, raheens, all have hurling teams, they might not be senior or have county players but their all committed to playing hurling and to...

Re: Joe hits out at County Board

This is just amazing. I cannot believe that we have the same discussion again. This issue is cut and dried as far as im concerned. I am a lot of people have been saying for months the hurling games are in tullamore for one reason and one reason only to pay for OConnor Park. There is no north south d...

Re: Thanks Drumcullen

Lads this is ridiculous, who the hell cares who broke his hand, it happens, its hurling, if you are afraid of getting hurt sit on the sideline. We need to get tougher, if its a bad pull then its bad and the player gets a yellow or a red and thats where it ends. This conversation is not going to do a...

Re: The bigger picture (Hurling and football)

Look there is an awful lot talked about here, completely focused on north offaly. There is a lot of work going on at underage level in north offaly as regards hurling and it is good to see. But there are an awful lot of people on here who have an awful chip on their shoulder, seem to think they are ...

Re: offaly hurlers (great effort)

I would be of the opinion that Dublin are not that great a team, I think they will get beaten by Galway, However it was still a good effort by offaly missing so many players, but this is an indication of what we can achieve, I think one of the biggest problems with Offaly is we have so many good pla...
