Re: Development Squads Deserve Respect and a Profile

did the U15 footballers get to the final of the Mangan tournament last weekend only to be beaten by Kerry? That is correct in that they got to the final. They were well beaten in the final by Kerry South, who themselves beat Kerry North in the semi-final. Interesting that the groups were settled by...

Re: Offaly GAA - in Crisis

Admittedly it's a bit tougher for a hurler in Clonmore or a footballer from Shinrone and there are areas where we can improve, but it can be done. It is fair to say that it is more than 'a bit hard' for that to happen. It is next to impossible for huge sways of the county's children to access to bo...

Re: Offaly GAA - in Crisis

In 90% of counties, what you say would be reasonable. I live in Roscommon now and if Seamus Sweeney vacated the chair, there would be a real contest for it, from people who would actively canvass clubs, talk to the people of the county through the media, make their positions clear and have a clear ...

Re: Offaly GAA - in Crisis

This place has always been an absolute cesspit of County Board loyalists over the ys. You realise it's entirely possible to be very disappointed with a huge number of things that have happened in recent years, many of which stem from county board mistakes/inaction, and yet be utterly terrified of t...

Re: County Management Stability

On the other hand Offaly's tactics this year left a bad taste in many people's mouths regardless of whether they were justified or not. Just curious, would people feel a lot better if Galway had scored 3.24 rather than 33 points against Offaly. Look at their scorelines so far and they are hitting b...

Re: offaly team versus westmeath

We are probably one of if not the smallest county that aspires to compete at a reasonable level in both codes, which I think needs to be factored in also. The only county that is smaller than us, and legitimately promotes and competes in both codes, is Carlow. Their population is 22,000 less than u...

Re: Hurling development squads [Split from Walsh Cup]

From a players point of view, it was exactly how substandard described it - every year was a completely new experience in underage squads - Different managers, different selectors. 2 more personal experiences to share: 1. Under 16 training - playing half back, in possession of the ball but under som...

Re: Football league 3 2017

Now I take IIKJ's comment that teams shouldn't get beaten by 30 points, but these sort of big defeats can happen and considering if we get past Westmeath we play Dublin most Offaly fans today would take anything less than a 20 point beating as nearly a good result, so I wouldn't start saying these ...

Re: Football league 3 2017

I was delighted for everyone involved particularly after the total over reaction over the Armagh result. Once again, well done to all involved and let’s hope for a similar performance against Westmeath in a few weeks. Overreaction? Surely when a team have a record defeat like that, the county are e...

Re: Hurling development squads [Split from Walsh Cup]

And so its all over the fools that are Offaly's County Board messed up yet again last night and could not see reason with a KK motion to re in state last years management with those in situ this year, this would have meant you would have had ample bodies in place to work with and coach our young st...

Re: Football league 3 2017

Not alone was there a bus but apparently there was an overnight in the pipeline. But the players' preference was to drive. An overnight? Armagh takes 2-2.5 depending where you are traveling from in Offaly. Hardly a cause for a full weekend job. Sleep in your own bed Saturday night. Head off Sunday ...

Re: Rhode in Leinster

I hope this post doesn't come back to haunt me but I fully expect Rhode to beat Vincent's in the final. Their journey has been too great and they have proved their worth too many times to fall at this hurdle again. Rhode by 4. Don't be so hard on yourself. When did something written on the internet...
