Re: Leinster club hurling and football 2013

Ballyboden defeated Lucan Sarsfield today on a score of 0-13 to 0-10. I didn't think it was a bad match - although a few others I was talking to after thought it was very poor. Lucan will see this as missed opportunity after Ballyboden were reduced to 14 men mid-way through the second half and only ...

Re: New Hurling League.

No details that I know of. As I said - I would like to see them simply expand Michael Burns proposal and make Carlow & Westmeath D graded teams. They would simply play each other twice - once at home and once away (all other sections just play the extra team from their own grading.) All teams would ...

Re: Leinster club hurling and football 2013

The Kilkenny county final on Sunday was shown (deferred coverage) on TG4 and it wasn't great either. But we do have to take the conditions into account. Players were constantly losing their footing and slipping (same thing was happening in Mayo football final.) I knew the result before I had watched...

Re: Leinster club hurling and football 2013

Just back from Parnell Park tonight Dublin hurling semi-final(s). I missed the first game which was supposed to have been a good match. Lucan Sarsfields defeated Craobh Ciaran by 4 points. Lucan were winning by 6pts at half-time. Craobh had got it back to 2pts and had the momentum when they had a ma...

Re: New Hurling League.

Agree with Lone Shark that there is something unsettling about the whole timing of this debacle mid stream. However I actually now thought that 2014 would be played as 1A 6 counties and 1 B 6 counties with Cork and Limerick in it and then the new system would come in 2015. But I'm not in any way sur...

Re: Offaly county team managements 2014

Not the ideal draw in Leinster Hurling championship for the new incoming manager. Would have to beat Kilkenny(a wounded animal) away and then Galway just to reach a Leinster Final.

Re: New Hurling League.

Look the new proposals probably are better in the long run -however they should NOT come in till 2015. Fight out 2014 league for positions in 2015. Just ridiculous it changes mid-point and ridiculous it changes year CORK are relegated. Sure, if Cork and Limerick reach 1B final ahead of Offaly, Wex e...

Re: Offaly Senior Hurling Championship 2013

County Final live on TG4 this Sunday. Hopefully will be a good game and showcase Offaly club hurling in a positive light to a wide audience. (just as Kk and Coolderry have done over past two years.) Just reminds me Ger Loughnane was speaking as gaeilge to R Na G or Radio na Life in Dublin before fir...

Re: New Hurling League.

It is bringing changes like this straight away for next season rather than telling teams if you finish in such a position that you'll be in new 8 team 1a the following season that makes the GAA a joke at times. This is where the GAA REALLY ARE AMATEUR. As said above Offaly Co Board better fight it t...

Re: Offaly county team managements 2014

Would you believe one of the richest counties is in the same boat. Dublin hurlers! Anthony Daly has complained a few time about having to use club venues and not have a permanent base for training.

KK's 4 hurling teams

One cannot but be hugely impressed by KK club at the moment. This year they entered 4 adult teams into hurling championship grades -Senior, Intermediate, Junior A and Junior B. (okay under 21 is adult comp too). Incredibly they have reached the semi-final stage in all these competition as well as th...

Re: Championship Structures

Agree Kinnittyman. However these recommendations were put forward by a committee last year only to be rejected at a County Board meeting when clubs went against it. One of the strongest voices against change to 3 teams qualifying instead of 4 was our own club -Kinnitty.

Re: LSFC v Kildare

The Cork - Limerick result tonight doesn't augur well for us against Kildare next week. It seems a gap is growing between the divisions, so shock results seem to be less likely. That said Cavan beating Armagh was a small surprise last week and Cavan were in a lower division. We have to just hope for...

Re: Allianz-Hurling-league 1B

Agree there is a much better balance to this team as it is named compared to the Dublin match. Offaly should be good enough to win at home with Wex missing a few key players. But should and doing are two vastly diff things for Offaly GAA. Win and we'll be in the promotion battle. Lose we'll be low o...

Re: Allianz-Hurling-league 1B

I'm really worried about the prospect of Kevin Brady playing centre-back. If he was midfield I wouldn't be as worried- however I'm not a fan as he never looks up -take ridiculous shots or sends in aimless balls to forwards not to speak of conceeding frees. Surely David King is more of a wing back th...
