Re: Club Championship Draws

Getting playable pitches at the moment is a big problem. I'd say there aren't too many that could take a match right now.

Random thoughts on Offaly v Wicklow.

A big win for Offaly last Sunday, but it wasn’t without its frustrations too. Yes, there was a stiff wind that was worth 25 yards of territory, but Offaly’s inability to win their own ball for much of the first half allowed Wicklow to get a run of scores and build a small lead during the second quar...

Re: Offaly Hurling 2020

A simple win will do. Offaly's scoring difference exceeds Kerry's as it us, and so wouldn't deteriorate in a win. So Antrim are in the final against Offaly or Kerry. Offaly simply must win though. Do we have to beat Antrim by a certain amount of points or once we win were in the final? Playing Antri...

Re: Offaly Hurling 2020

The Mumps in Kerry . . . the Corona in Antrim . . . Division 2A could have a bit to run yet.

Re: Offaly Hurling 2020

Grumbling in Kerry because Offaly v Antrim will be played after Kerry play their final game. But there is NO stipulation that each team play their final round of games simultaneously. (That would never work if there was an odd number of teams in a group.) That, and Antrim presumably have accommodati...

Re: DIV 3 NFL predictions and general chit chat.

Two years ago, beat Wexford in Enniscorthy then beat Westmeath in Mullingar in their next away game.

Re: Offaly Hurling 2020

Sshhhh!
That's not a bad turn of events at all. Offaly can gain some confidence with wins over Mayo and Wicklow in the next two weeks. They can then carry that bit of momentum into the Antrim game, which I presume will be on the weekend 7th/8th March now.

Kerry beat Meath 0-13 to 0-8 today.

Re: Offaly Hurling 2020

I wasn't in Tralee so I'm not going to comment specifically on that one, but some general points in advance of Antrim's visit: Having to hurl most of the second half with a man less than the opposition was a big handicap, naturally. And particularly when you're not comfortable in possession of the b...

Re: Kehoe Cup 2019/2020

That's nothing new, Offaly supporters have been like that for the last 20 years. I don't like it, I know it affects the hurlers, but sadly too many people don't get that. Also I must say the Offaly supporters have a very negative reaction to small mistakes from players, I think it's an awful way for...

Offaly 0-26 Meath 1-21

It all depends on your perspective, whether a win is a win or whatever. In my view, that was a very disappointing performance from Offaly yesterday. As far as I could see, nothing has changed. And only Meath’s lack of belief rescued Offaly. Offaly are still unable to control the game, unable to stri...

Re: O’Byrne Cup

Yes, the 1993 O’Byrne Cup win would have been the first Senior silverware won since 1982. But back then, the only opportunities to win a trophy were the All-Ireland, the Leinster, the League final and the O’Byrne cup. There were no league divisional trophies, like there are today. Not that it would ...

Offaly players listed on the extended Fitzgibbon panels before Christmas:

Eoghan Cahill, Eimhin Kelly and Cathal Curran with Mary I;
Paddy Delaney with UL;
Andy Flynn with UCG;
Peter Walsh with Galway RTC;
Conor Langton with Carlow.

And that's it.
