Re: Offaly Senior Footballers Championship Thread

Disapointed to lose but Clare were better............ Could have had a few goals in the first half and also we seemed lucky not to concede a peno twice. We got a handy enough peno but Panda was "carred" in the second half and he gave it against us............ Fitness is still an issue. Ant...

Re: Offaly Senior Footballers Championship Thread

Additionally, we are only county that have put embargo on use of u20s. There are a few of the u20s - maybe 3 or 4 that could be considered for senior panel (Cian Johnson included). I'd be in favour of them concentrating on U20 until they are out but could be part of senior panel. . Remember that on...

Re: Offaly Senior Hurlers Championship Thread

Keeper was excellent. Spain made some good dispossesions but a couple of very poor hand-passes and a few very silly fouls gave Galway 5 points. Ben C very slow in getting rid... Wing back gave Cooney freedom of the park in the first half, better second half. Pat C just not a defender,,,,, and the be...

Re: 2018 NHL

I don't know what all the OY whinging is about on the likelihood of a heavy pitch at OCP. Laois are the more skilful team and conditions on Sunday should suit this top heavy OY team. The hurlers are no longer in Offaly, and having to go back and use the likes of Mahon and Currams speaks of the pove...

Re: Stephen Gavin (1946-1947)

I’ll just chip in with what I found: Stephen Gavin made 3 championship appearances for the footballers in 1946 and 1947 while also lining out with the hurlers and being part of Birr’s 6-in-11 years of the 1940s. Courtesy of the mighty POTH. From June 14 2012 Does anyone have those 6 Birr teams? Whi...

Re: Stephen Gavin (1946-1947)

This Forum is part of a website and it list all those who played hurling and football, League & Championship, for Offaly from apprx 1941. Stephen is listed with 6 appearances and as scoring 3 goals, or 3 for the hurlers & 3 for the footballers, in 46/47. Just google www.uibhfhaili.com and yo...

Re: Stephen Gavin (1946-1947)

. There is a record of almost all Offaly Championship teams, in football, from the early Forties, compiled by a regular poster on this site, not me but he shared. In both 1946 & 47 Offaly footballers had 2 championship games. In 46 v Westmeath the midfielder, 8, was Stephen Gavin, with his club ...

Re: Leinster club championships 2017

Sam888 seems to believe that this is the time of year for a massive leg-pull. His comments at the top of this page bear no resemblance to the game I watched.... K-K were, unfortunately, totally outplayed but at least they lost to a fine hurling team....... I do hope that with 5 or 6 young guns/retu...

Re: Offaly hurling manager??

I seen that Tipperary are back training with a 40 man panel. Any word on Offaly hurlers back training yet? The footballers got together over two weeks ago and have trained and got gym program started. I just had a look at the article on the composition of the Tipp training panel and it says " ...

Re: Direction?

The statement "Primary: teachers need to take a more hands on approach. Having lads from the club coming to train a school is unacceptable." shows one of the major problems. Teachers are not obliged to coach/train teams/players be that GAA, Soccer , rugby or whatever, Some will, some wont ...

Opening tomorrow so surprising there is no great interest/excitement here.....

I think its brilliant to have such a facility and only hope it gets plenty of use by county teams and Dev Squads,,,,,,,,,

Looking forward to having a good look at it tomorrow.......
