Re: James McCarthy Dublin

Regarding Kevin Heffernan::: I was always told as a child that Kevin Heffernan was actually born in Offaly (Tullamore maternity Unit ??) and would be very aggressive when it was mentioned to him,,,, He had an intense dislike to that being discussed,,,,,,,,,,,, Was his Dad actually stationed in Porta...

Re: Offaly GAA - in Crisis

What would the negatives of actually having separate hurling and football boards be? The major one is that in the past couple of years Congress ( the great unwashed from all over the country) voted to abolish separate Boards,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, So Galway does not now have a Football Board like they had a...

Re: A chance for atonement - Westmeath v Offaly, Leinster SH

Could not make Mullingar, domestic duties prevailed but great to hear of the WIN. After the result from last year I was worried but fair play to all involved..... From the impact off the bench I suspect there will be a few changes for the next game. A big worry is hearing lads with cramp after 50 mi...

Re: A chance for atonement - Westmeath v Offaly, Leinster SH

That is the sort of arrogance that has us where we are. The attitude of a few pucks & a few pints and we'll bate them easy..... Westmeath probably have a bigger hurling area that we have,,From east of Ballymore & north of Kilbeggan to the Cavan & Meath borders they have mostly hurling, w...

Re: Looking for help on an old Offaly team photo

POTH I just scanned the photo & emailed it to you. John Clarke's reference to a Tom Cahill seems to confirm the identity of the source of the photo and his inclusion in it. It would also be reasonable now to accept that its the 1927 team v Meath, in Tullamore, whether that be the draw or replay....

Looking for help on an old Offaly team photo

I recently came into possession of a framed photo of an Offaly team which appears to date from the Thirties or early Forties. It is quite good quality. I just opened the frame to check the back of the photo and its inscribed “Offaly v Meath 7/7/1927” It came from an elderly man in Dublin who was a n...

Re: Great News

Had a look at it back in March and the pitches were starting to look the part........ Will they be in use by summer 2018 ? Just saw on the Fields website that the funding has hit 89% and the New York round still to come.... Hopefully that will push it close...... Looking forward to it being ready an...

Re: Football league 3 2017

Delighted with the win and especially since who it was against and who it relegated !!!!! Negatives: Alan Mulhall: stinker for a couple of their goals, missing the ball in the air and taking out his full back leaving a free tap-in was one. Another was when big lad broke the ball, Alan stood rooted o...

Re: U21 football

The lads fought hard and cannot be faulted for effort...

Dubs were bigger and stronger and were able to bring on more big lads near the end.

I was impressed by Dempsey, McNamee and Tierney.....

Re: Photo Request

I have no memory of such a photo of Tony and he was not a demonstrative "rabble rousing" person !!!!!! And I was one of the rabble that day !!!! But if its exists some of the Ferbane lads surely have it, Jimmy Spollen, Eamon Flynn or Sean Guinan ?????????????? Brian Lowry ??????????????? A...
