Re: 2012 Leinster Club Championships

It would be great to see KK follow Coolderry into another All Ireland final. I think it is fair that they are very much the underdogs and to be honest most of the country expect Thurles to win this one quiet easily. Thurles with the number of current and former county players at their disposal shoul...

Re: offaly 2013

I would have to disagree with lone shark based on my own experiences. I know a good number of players both in my own club and elsewhere who have moved away but kept playing with their club. None of them have ever complained about trust between team mates. If anything and I know it from experience, i...

Re: offaly 2013

If a lad has to be chased to come play for you, whether at senior county level or even at club junior, chances are he's not going to make a significant difference to your chances of winning something. However if a lad approached the Offaly management and said that his mother/father was from Offaly ...

Re: offaly 2013

tis a fair point about a lad willing to travel from Dublin (for example) to play with the county and not willing to do the same for his club. A county footballer would not train with the club until a week or 2 before the championship in general. And many county lads would only play a handful of lea...

Re: offaly 2013

Forget bringing in players that have family from Offaly. They have tried it and what has come in was not up to much. Forget these players outside the county. There is a lack of talent, and it is both worrying and frustrating. But I think it is the genuine footballers, the lads that give it there all...

Re: Brendan Murphy retires

Was fortunate enough to have played against Franks and Murphy many times and know both lads through hurling. Two nice blokes to have a chat with. Two excellent hurlers. Murphy would have benefitted from having a few more physically imposing players around him with Offaly. A hard man to stop when he ...

Re: 2012 Leinster Club Championships

Did not make it to the game but I heard Lusmagh were short a few players? Anyone confirm this? Well done to Lusmagh on a good year. They bounced back well from relegation and are getting the max out of the resources available to them. Would not read too much into that game yesterday. At this time of...

Re: REstructure of Offaly Championships

What are the changes? The fixtures really have to be giving a total rethink. At the moment championships are finishing far too late. Junior finals should be played at latest the 1st weekend in September. Also dual clubs are in an impossible situation in trying to compete and have any real chance wit...

Re: All Ireland Club Hurling Championship 2012-2013

Well lads, I gave ye good warning last week that a St Pat's win was very likely over Rhode and it was no real suprise that is how it turned out albeit with some very dubious decisions going against the Rhode men. Now back to the hurling. KK finally made the breakthrough and it would be hard begrudge...

Re: 2012 Leinster Club Championships

Tough game for Rhode coming up this weekend. St Pat's of Louth have been very strong over the last decade. Think they have won 5 of 10 Louth championships. A friend is playing with them and was in O' Connor park at the Offaly county final with a number of other Pats players and management. They have...

Re: Junior Hurling Championship

Well I certainly got my predictions wrong for these games. I had fancied Raheen to win easily based on their big wins in most games on route to the final and it being their only team. However Shamrocks were impressive and despite nearly throwing it away by conceding two soft goals in a couple of min...

Re: Junior Hurling Championship

What does people think about the junior hurling final on sunday. Raheen should win easily. Its their first and only team so they should be far too strong at this grade. The other final should be alot tighter. Alot of talk has been that both teams could have used some of these players on their 1st t...

Re: Hurling Championship

Yes it's not nice to see them relegated in both codes. They have been very competitive in both codes and produced some excellent players. Unfortunately they have lost so many players that filling the gaps has obviously been too big a challenge. There was no doubt they would be relegated. Drumcullen ...

Re: Offaly Senior Football Trials

In fairness one way of looking at it is that the management are offering everybody a chance if they want to make themselves available. No one can conplain saying well I did not get a call in. The downside is of course there is some players who will attend who think they are alot better than they are...

Re: Intermediate Football Championship

Brigids 2-7 shamrocks 10 Any reports from El Classico last night? No suprise in the result. I had expected Brigids to win this game easily and its not quiet how it worked out. Brigids got a goal against the run of play that effectively won the game. Shamrocks put up a good show with what they had a...
