Re: Offaly U20 footballers 2023
The fundamental problem is that these are (in theory) development competitions, designed as a stepping stone for those players who are too old for minor, but not yet able to make a significant impact at adult level. Interesting that you say these competitions are meant to be developmental competiti...

Re: Offaly Senior A Hurling Championship 2023
Having watched the highlights on TG4 it looked like 3 of the goals were severely impacted by the astro turf in the goals. The Kk 3rd goal was a direct result of an unnatural hop off the surface and spin, while the 2 Shinrone frees looked to take unusual bounces off the surface that deceived the defe...

Re: Offaly Senior A Hurling Championship 2023
+1 on the winner on the day rule apart from finals. In a dual county it just has to be that way. Fair enough in the example of Birr and Shinrone, where they don’t care about the other code but lots of clubs do, and I’d prefer rules to be aligned to help dual code clubs field teams. We’ll done to KK....

Re: Club football championship 2023
Looking only at the clip, It definitely caused some interference for the defender - probably more about decision making than anything else. Interesting the commentator referenced poor marking, when in reality the defender is not moving out to close down the player that slipped the pass if the goal s...

Re: Club football championship 2023
Getting into the lead was vital in that game and had a huge bearing on how the game was played thereafter as scores were always going to be really hard come by in the conditions. It was tough and tense more so than anything. Regarding kicking the ball, it happened a few times with mixed results nota...

Re: Offaly Senior B Hurling Championship 2023
I saw the Lusmagh panel listed online. From a quick count I think it was 15 players with the surname Kelly - looked like 7 started. It must be some type of record. Curious to know the backstory there: is it a couple of sets of brothers, or cousins or is it just an area with many Kelly families? Toug...

Re: Club football championship 2023
The reality is that there is not a red hot favorite for the final. Both teams are very similarly matched. Both have good underage pedigree and a good mix of experienced players in their ranks as well as some good new blood. Both clubs have handled being a true dual club and both camps will benefit f...

Re: U20 hurlers 23
How dare anyone say that! I am outraged! I mean to think that he could say that they "have a good chance".but if we just focus on ourselves and do what we do best, we'll have a good chance.
Let's get a grip here folks. No wonder the players are told to say nothing.

Re: Offaly Senior Hurlers 2023
I took a screenshot of the moment of impact of the Keily collision . Both players are head on and there is no evidence of the Kerry player leading with a shoulder/elbow/head to the offaly players head. The more I look at it, the more I think it was a mutual collision without any malicious intend on ...

Re: Offaly Senior Hurlers 2023
Just seen this comment in this weeks offaly indo ‘ The absence of a significant cohort of players making an impression in the Fitzgibbon Cup is a concern’ Has anyone an idea of what players we have making an impression in the fitzgibbon cup? That is the point that the piece is making. The fact that...

Re: Offaly Minor Football and Hurling 2023
In general I feel that there are just too many teams that players are playing with in a calendar year between club, county and then school/college. Add in dual activities, especially at underage club level, and you could easily see how a player could be playing in 15-20 different competitions a year...

Re: Club Hurling Managers 2023
I am not sure we will see a football team dominating the next 5 years. Would it shock anyone if either Tullamore or Rhode picked up 2 titles with the other team, along with edenderry and ferbane picking up at least 1 each? I would say that 3 clubs splitting the next 5 titles is more likely than Tul...

Re: Club football managers 22/23
My advise to PF: say nothing, keep your powder dry, and then after he wins a county title next Autumn say “a lot of people doubted me, a lot of stuff was said, etc…”
