Re: Lost in the Bog
Like Loneshark I can see your frustration Jimbob, but its not fair to say guys will be lost because they are playing Junior or Intermediate. Guys are lost primarily because they do not have the ambition. However you make a valid point about how guys are brought in for 1 trial or so and then they are...

Re: offaly senior football team 2012
Offaly experimental teams for 2012 should be the heading! Ross Brady?? Forget it lads, we need to go after pace in the team, this has been the big downfall. Will come back to this by the middle of March, would expect to see a few u21 lads make an impact on the championship and push for the Senior te...

Re: Lost in the Bog
Also, No one on Offaly team from Ferbane, Ballycumber, Pollagh,Shamrocks (ok Nigel Dunne thereabouts?) Rynaghs, Tullamore, all Senior teams in big areas? So Senior football does not guarantee county players either, (combined population 18 to 20k)???

Re: leinster club hurling
Great win for Coolderry and am delighted to be proved wrong! Mighty to see an Offaly team perform so well in Parnell park. They will have their work cut out for them against Oulart, but this should give them a lot of confidence, and best of luck to them!

Re: Lost in the Bog
Jimbob, you have not answered as to why Noel Andrew and Bracken might be lost. Most county players spend 85% of their time in training with the county, and if a guy is dedicated with his club it will shine through. And the dedication to play county football needs to be there to. The guys you have sp...

Re: Lost in the Bog
Harsh indictment there lads! I think the big issue in Offaly why lads are lost is that not enough of the key players go on to play with 3rd level college teams. And interestingly you point out the example of Noel Andrew & Padraig Bracken??? How are these guys lost? Its the exposure they have got...

Re: leinster club hurling
I hope it does Townman! All I can say is the last decent day I had in that hole of a Parnell Park was the league football game v Dublin in '98 i think it was when we beat the dirty Dubs in a mighty struggle. And even then poor aul Finbarr took one of the mainest belts thrown on a football pitch that...

Re: leinster club hurling
Hard to see how Coolderry can pull off a shock here. I thought once Birr tightened up they were the better team, and I dont see what some of ye seem to see in the forwards. Carroll & Parlon were nowhere to be seen when Birr threw down the gauntlet, (and Carroll before that), Murray will do very ...

Re: Gerry cooney
By the way, well done on the U21 management appointment. Good men in there who have had a good involvement in club football and a spread of guys who can work with the players in groups and are up with modern methods. Best of luck to them and along with the appointment of John Leahy for minor hurlers...

Re: Gerry cooney
On the list of names under the brief "talent allowed to fall through the cracks", please spare me that nonsense. A lot of those guys had every chance and were called in year after year, and as Lone Shark said for a variety of reasons they did not make it. It happens, and unfortunately it h...

Re: McNamee to kildare
And your point is? He would still have to cut out the handy misses that are a feature of his game.well if he was to go to kildare he wouldn't have to win games on his own like he has to for offaly.
