Re: Junior A Football
I dont think they are ready to go onto a county panel, but they have the potential. The Carrolls have a tigerish element to their play and great fitness levels, allied to their skills are attributes we are looking for, Gethings at full back or midfield has a calm composure and a good ability to read...

Re: offaly senior football team 2012
In fairness Alan Mulhall was the most consistent performer over the year, had a brilliant year and imo has nailed down that position. Meehan is a good back up choice, but Mulhall is the man with the jersey at the moment.

Re: Junior A Football
Cracking game of football in Tullamore yesterday. Ok there were a lot of mistakes and horror misses, especially by Feichins, but for pure excitement and entertainment, top class. Whoever lost would be kicking themselves, but the concession of a soft goal with Peter Daly dropping a a high free over h...

Re: Life, Death & Hurling, The Michael Duignan Story
May be to do with one of the brawls he got involved in, whilst making a good story, would not be appropriate given pending court proceedings!??

Re: offaly senior football team 2012
Jayz Bracknaghboy, thats a bit harsh on Dalton? I actually thought he did ok during the league, and he was poor v Wexford. But in fairness overall he should have gained a lot of confidence from this year. Also I think he was travelling from Wexford all this year, and now that he is based more local ...

Re: No competition for CB positions!!
The problem with a lot of the younger brigade is that many are under pressure trying to hold down jobs to get involved. The other issue is that it is very political, and you have to be in the old boys club. However the big issue is the quality of delegates going to the meetings, whether you like him...

Re: Ferbane/Bemont Underage
Yes How Ya Now, the facts are during the 80's ,90's FB had no one from Shannonbridge, and a lot of that talent was lost! 4 is a nice core to have, and there are more on the u14's I think. Just saying ye need to be careful, thats all, and I hope they do come through and are successful. Ferbane needs ...

Re: offaly senior football team 2012
Ken Casey not up to Intercounty, has not developed physical strength to win hard ball, and does not seem to be able to turn defenders like I expected he would when coming through from minor. Lads are being hard on Dalton, he had a great year this year and I think he will develop into a handy enough ...

No competition for CB positions!!
Well Well? No competition for Pat Teehan as CB chairman (going into 5th year), and Tommy Byrne will only run for Secretary if Martin Boland (think this is 5th and last year also) stands down. Amazing with all the anger around the place at the moment over the performance of County teams, (especially ...

Re: Brian Cowen's legacy of failure as Taoiseach
It summed up Fianna Fail as much as it did Brian Cowen. I think one of the main things was that McCreavy was shipped off to Europe when he saw the warning signs on spending. One poster made a valid point here about how the image of the Biffo has never been stronger out there as a result of some of t...

Re: Ferbane/Bemont Underage
They could only play 20 out of the 38!! Joke!! But what you are saying is even though Ferbane have Shannonbridge with them ye only have 20 or so minors to pick from? I know Ferbane are doing well at the moment, but they have a core of 5 or so from Shannonbridge at each age group. If you go back to l...

Re: offaly senior football team 2012
I agree about kicking the ball in direct, but in fairness the one thing that differentiates the top teams from the mediocre is the ability to get clean , fast, direct ball into your forward line. This is the main aim of the congestion in football, to try and cut off the supply. Ball is worked to mid...

Re: Lost in the Bog
Look Jimbob, you cant say DAingean parish would beat Tubber! And you keep talking about Junior football, Kilclonfert and Cappincur are both Intermediate. Daingean were in the junior final. I will say it again if Senior is the be all and end all, then why is there no one from Tubber (1 retiree), Poll...
