Re: Hurling Plan, Whats the story?
Nope - were due to play at the end of November, but had to give a walkover as they couldn't get their team together - they were drawing heavily on players from Ballinamere and Belmont, and the late running of the U21 championships (both codes) meant they just couldn't get it together on time. That ...

Re: Hurling Plan, Whats the story?
Congratulations to the Offaly Combined Colleges Senior Football team on qualification for the Leinster Colleges Quarter-Final. I trust Offaly Combined Colleges Senior Hurling team are also taking part in the Leinster Senior A Colleges championships as per the Hurling Plan. Have they played any game...

Re: Offaly hurling manager??
Just terrible. Hope they are not forgetting the best 23 - 30 year olds. Senior hurling is for men, not unproven young lads who were only average at underage level. If this is line they are taking, I'd fear greatly for the year ahead. Ryan needs to consult with people who know the hurling scene espe...

Re: B championship
What's wrong with 2 groups of 4. Top 2 into semi like the football. More competitive games and less waste of time games. Simple! The format of the 2016 Senior Football Championship was not a success in my opinion. It is well known that club-league games in Offaly are treated like challenge games by...

Re: Advancement from Group Stages Football
A disappointing year for Raheen who were strongly fancied by many to make a major impact in Senior A over the next 3/4 years. It has also been a disappointing year for Dangean. The new structure of the Offaly Senior championship with just 8 teams playing senior football has not resulted in new teams...

Re: Offaly Club Hurling C'ship 2016
The work carried out by Birr Club on St Brendan's Park is excellent. St Brendan's Park should have hosted more of the senior hurling championship group games this year. St Brendan's Park should be given both Co Senior Hurling Semi-Finals with the final being given to O'Connor Park. In the past few y...

Re: Offaly Club Hurling C'ship 2016
The club league programe should be played over a 10 month period, with all county players released to their clubs for all league games. The League should have the status of the second best competition in the county. Division 1 should reflect the best 10 teams in the county, Division 2 with next bes...

Re: Advancement from Group Stages Football
All in all, I think this is a much better format for championship with every game having meaning and with Senior B teams having something to really go for also rather than bringing up the rear in a larger senior championship. The senior championship will be stronger also in 2 or 3 years i'd feel as...

Re: Offaly Club Hurling C'ship 2016
Agree with almost everything in the last few posts. We need to have more competitive game. 100% agree. The other thing with this format the 1st 4 games can be played without inter county players, Yeah it will weaking the established team but it won't adversely effect the team over the whole champio...

Re: Offaly Club Hurling C'ship 2016
The results of last weekends hurling group games confirms the poor structure of the Offaly Senior Hurling championship. Teams can be defeated in 3 games and still qualify for the Co Quarter Final. The Offaly Hurling Championship in effect does not commence until September. A new more competitive str...

Re: Offaly Club Hurling C'ship 2016
Just to be clear, the county board proposed exactly that - the return of the weak group, either as a solution in itself, or as stepping stone to senior B in 2017. (You couldn't go straight to senior B as it would be unfair on those involved who had already started preparing with an old framework in...
