Re: 2018 Bord na Móna O’Byrne Cup

Cian Johnson from Ferbane made his intercounty debut today. I wonder is he the first player to play for Offaly having never started a senior championship game for his club. Or are there others that people know of? By all accounts he played well and is a hugely promising player. Best of luck to him a...

Re: Offaly SHC

Very proud of Belmont they gave it everything. They just could not make enough use of possession in the second half and missed a couple of decent chances towards the end. They were unlucky too in that early in the second half, when they would have expected to build on a very good first half performa...

Re: Offaly U14 Hurlers Skillful,Determined and Tough

I think beating any Kilkenny team is to be welcomed at this stage. It's important to acknowledge the few people who are putting in an effort at underage and for the County Board to give them the necessary back-up and resources.

Re: A chance for atonement - Westmeath v Offaly, Leinster SH

Very exciting game in which Offaly showed great character to pull it out of the fire. Dismal first half performance where we were dominated around the middle third. We lacked physical presence in midfield but the introduction of Paddy Murphy at half-time made a huge difference and was instrumental i...

Is St Cynoc's Terrace the one out beyond the Church on the left hand side as you head towards Belmont?
That's it, POTH.

Great post, Exiled in Connacht. Good recovery by Offaly following the Armagh debacle. All roads lead to O'Connor Park next Sunday!

Re: Hurling Team of Year 2016 & County Panel Prospects

I think the first thing we need is a few lads that can win a ball in the air! Cos the issue is not some much the accuracy of the puck outs/clearances as the inability of the targeted players to win possession.

Re: Offaly hurling manager??

I have no doubt that Kevin Ryan is a good hurling man and I am somewhat reassured by Old Yellar's positive comments, given his knowledge of Carlow hurling. However, could anyone outline to me what Ryan brings to the manager position compared to Danny Owens? Particularly as he will be charging more i...

Re: Advancement from Group Stages Football

Superb win for Ferbane yesterday. They showed great intensity and energy, and played a fine brand of football. There is definitely a county championship in this team. Whether it will be this year, time will tell. Looking at both semi finals, they are in with a shout, though semi final form is not of...

Brilliant post Jimbob. I was delighted to see Tipp win on Sunday given the quality and intensity of their performance. Such a pity it is the county with the highest percentage of assholes in Ireland. There is at least one of them on this forum!

Re: SFC Qualifier Kildare v Offaly

While it was a reasonably good effort by Offaly it also showed up key deficiencies that have to be worked on if further progress is to be made. Inability to win ball around the middle is critical. What is even more worrying is that there doesn't seem to be any strategy for winning possession there, ...

Re: Offaly vs Wexford 2016 Hurling Qualifier - Saturday July

Agree totally Sharp Eye. Joe Bergin has been in fine goal-scoring form at full-forward. It defies logic that he was played out the field against Wexford. It would not be a matter of lumping ball in on top of him every time but without him as a target in there it was no wonder that guys were shooting...

Re: Offaly vs Wexford 2016 Hurling Qualifier - Saturday July

Shocking performance today. Why in the name of God was Joe Bergin not played at the edge of the square when Offaly had the wind in the first half? Surely the gameplan should have been to feed the full forward line as much as possible and have our dangermen Bergin and Dooley in there. Instead what we...
