Re: The all Ireland hurling final
As Bill Shankly once said about two rival teams who were playing each other - "I hope they both lose" :) . As a neutral, 5 in a row in both hurling and football is the holy grail that has never been achieved and I reckon this Kilkenny team would be worthy of breaking that mould. Maybe if Tipp are ...

All the more reason to amalgamate the Daingean parish teams if anything.Plain of the Herbs wrote:Would losing to Clonmore Harps be considered a new low for Daingean?

Re: Shannonbridge to compete in 'Celebrity Bainisteoir 3'
Celebrity Bainisteoir is a heap of sh*t. The GAA should not be lowering themselves by having teams participate in celebrity RTE crap.

Re: Offaly Will play Longford in Minor Final
Congrats to Longford, obviously none of this would have mattered if Offaly had won, but can someone explain the backdoor/qualifier system at Minor level. Offaly had beaten Longford in the 1st round, Longford get back in through the qualifier system BUT are still in the Leinster Championship? Also ...

Re: Offaly vs. Clare Football Qualifier Round 1 26/06/2010
O'Cinneide was just calling a spade a spade. I dont think it had anything to do with a deep hatred of Offaly . Whoever said it was right about Cribbens "taking it to another level comments" were laughable.

Re: A hundred years ago . . .
Daingean was originally named Philipstown in 1556 when it was established as the county town in the land that was planted by Queen Mary Tudor in the newly-shired King’s County. The town and the county was so named after her husband, Philip II of Spain, King consort of Ireland.

Re: Offaly vs. Clare Football Qualifier Round 1 26/06/2010
I was surprised at O'Cinneide's comment. I reckon the Kerry crowd still hate Offaly for what happened in 1982. The normally mild mannered and boring O'Cinneide let his mask slip there and Cribben should use it as a motivating ploy. A win over Waterford should give the footballers a chance to build ...

and we got waterford next - having seen the match saturday i can honestly say that normally we should win this but you just never know anymore -
the first half of that match on saturday was atrocious. We were outrun, outfought , and outmuscled everywhere.

Re: where does offaly hurling stand now?????
I think Offaly are better than people think. We have been our own worst enemies at times by not believing in our abilities or not being as fit / organised as the team we are up against. we are slowly crossing those barriers.
