Re: GAA, GPA and Gov. Reach Agreement.

I agree. A pathetic analogy. I can only assume it's a severve case of brian fart on the author's behalf. If not, it's grossly insulting to the GPA.

Re: Offaly Minor Management A Complete Joke

Dingle, I agree completely that dropping to Christy Ring level in the coming years is plausible. However to look at it another way, what right have we to expect to be top flight? You say it like our current set up is a joke, but right now the only counties that are better than us in hurling have bi...

Re: Offaly Minor Management A Complete Joke

The hurling culture in Offaly is not demanding enough to make our players live a monastic existence. We don't expect success, so it has a novelty factor, we certainly would be less questioning of the players who deliver any morsel of success to us! In Cork or Kilkenny most lads would be scared shit...

Re: Offaly Minor Management A Complete Joke

I don't know how he can be vewed as a WUM. Offaly hurling is a joke. The vast majority of people on here become ultra defense when this point is driven home. The medium term outlook for the senior side is dismal. If there is more slippage in the coming years, not competeing for the Liam McCarthy is ...

Re: Sean Ryan - Decision Time

I don't think that its up to us to decide for him whether he should give up football or hurling. As long as he wants to put in the commitment for both and has the ability to do so, then it is up for the manager of the respective teams to decide if he gets picked or not. It comes back to the one and...

Re: Birr vs. that KK crowd

That was one of the sweetest Birr victories. Up there with Clarecastle in 1997. I heard that the Ballyhale manager was less than magnanimous in the Birr dsressing room after. He said Birr were lucky, Ballyhale were missing their best players and that they will beat Birr next year, if we get out of ...

Re: Players going down under

Just read on the indo today that Brendan Murphy from the carlow Minor team is suppose to be the next big thing in Aussie rules. How many lads in recent years have headed down there? There seems to be a good few, the ones I can think of Kennelly - Kerry O'Halpine - Cork Clark - Down Begley - Laois Q...

Re: Birr vs. that KK crowd

i'D fear for Birr. That old Offaly mentality of being scared sh1tless of KK will rear it's ugly head again. Shamrocks, without there two best, are distinctly average. The KK senior championship is a two horse race between themselves and a declining Vilage side. From 1-4 they're v weak. Problem is Bir...

Birr haven't a hope in hell. Ballyhale will bet the tar out of them. Ballyhale have, far all intensive purposes, a bye into the All Ireland hurling final. Portumna are a class side whilst Erins Own of Cork would be a good long shot bet.

I dont know how anyone can say it was biased. You'd some young redheaded lad who tried his best to demonise the protestantfamily and justify everything that happened them. You'd also an auld lad who came across as bit daft and clearly sypmpathic towards the IRA. He also denied that the family were t...

I do know that the reason Killavullen amalagmated with Castletownroche at gaelic football was becoz the football side of CTR folded due to lack of interest. Both sides field seperate hurling sides. The last 2 sides they met this yr, Glanmire and Mallow, are one parish- so the all bar 2or 3 remark se...

It's ridiculous if it is. Half the clubs in Cork and Galway for example draw on more than one parish. I live in Cork and it's bonkers to suggest that 1/2 the teams draw on more than one parish. tHE v opposite is true. They are far more multi-GAA clubs in one parish than one club with multi-parishes...
