Re: Niall McNamee Retires

A great player. Wonderfully stylish footballer, brilliant fielder of the ball, great at setting up team mates and of course was a great scorer for us. Sadly due to us being so poor during most of his career he never got to fulfill his potential and the weight of carrying the team seem to really drag...

Re: Offaly vs Westmeath 2016 Leinster Q-final - Sunday June

Kieran Martin had his nose broken by an Offaly player after he went to shake his hand after the game. Hopefully there is a long ban coming up for whoever that was.Bad enough to lose but to then engage in thuggery like that is unacceptable. Only half the story. Offaly players went to shake hands and...

Re: Offaly vs Westmeath 2016 Leinster Q-final - Sunday June

Could not understand the persistence of leaving Allen in the full forward line isolated by himself, as for McNamee almost playing as a midfielder/centre forward particularly in the 2nd half was a bad move, I think we were the better footballers but we wasted so many chances..I hope we regroup and g...

Re: Offaly vs Westmeath 2016 Leinster Q-final - Sunday June

We got what we deserved from that game. Far too negative in the first half.I do not know who thought it was a good idea to play with a one man full forward line and for Bernard Allen to be the lone player up there. He's about 5ft 7 and is in no way suitable for that role.If they are going to play tha...

Re: Leinster SFC Round 1 vs Longford

Really good performance from Offaly. Niall Smith was top class especially in the first half and should be one of the first names on the team sheet he's simply a brilliant fielder of a ball. McNamee was excellent and as someone else said he looks leaner than he has for a while and the hunger and desi...

Re: Offaly v Kildare, Senior football qualifier, 4th July

I agree the black card for the Kildare midfielder actually improved the team and he had an important part in their play. Offaly lost the way in midfield especially in second half were i would say in first half they broke even, what i was annoyed at was Kildare actually had more numbers around the b...

Re: Offaly v Kildare, Senior football qualifier, 4th July

Decent enough performance. I missed the first 15 minutes of the match because I thought the game was starting at 3 o'clock (it was down as throwing in at 3 in the paper this morning).

The loss of Niall Smith and the introduction of Tommy Moolick by Kildare seemed to me to be a big turning point.

Re: offalys best football 15 since 1971 to 2014

DAF - Thomas Deehan in before Peter Brady ! Are you sure ? Overall Brady was obviously a better player but I'd only seen him play for a couple of years and I was only 13 when he finished playing for Offaly so it's hard to appreciate him as much with my own eyes.Deehan started playing for Offaly whe...

Has anyone even considered that Kildare might win on Sunday and we'll end up playing Dublin in the qualifiers. :)

Re: Offaly vs Longford, Leinster SFC, Saturday 16/05/2015

Dreadful first 15 minutes and last 15 minutes in the middle we played well, we didn't take advantage of the wind enough in the first half.We nearly snatched a draw at the end but it wouldn't have been a deserved draw. John Maloney was Offaly best player tonight, he drove out of defence well and real...

Re: Support for Longford Game

Best of Luck to Offaly and Best of Luck to Paul McConway especially on his first championship match as captain. He's a fomer classmate of mine a sound man. The performance in the league final was encouraging and if we can play as well as that on Saturday we'll have a good chnace. Hopefully they can ...
